Well all I could say about survey is that it’s as half assed as the game itself.
And this choice is soooooooooooooooo accusatory it’s not even funny.

… I mean. I guess there wasnt enough feedback in the steam data… twitch data…
Or the forums…
Or the discord…
Or steam reviews…
Or reddit…
Or twitter…
Or so many other places.
Gotta get that survey out so it looks like they are doing something. If we are only at the point where they are starting to gather feedback, its much much worst than I thought it was, and I didnt even think that was possible.
I mean that’s the absolute most cynical way of looking at it, more likely they’re trying to be able to put a number on things.
AKA: If they get 5000 responses saying they’re angry about crafting being incomplete, 1800 about crashes, but only 150 truly negative responses about character customization then that helps prioritize issues.
Is it perfect? No. Is the survey perfect? Definitely not. But it’s a start. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly frustrating they’re only just now getting started on the process of quantifying and prioritizing things but it’s better than literally nothing in terms of input. (Not that that means they’ll even listen to the input)
problem with it being in the launcher is that most likely, the people seeing it are the ones that still enjoy the game. Data will not be correct unless people re-install.
unsure why we dont have a version online. or am I blind and I missed it?
To be fair, they just came back from a long break to a cacophony of (mostly) justified screeching from every source they keep track of. Helps to try and get solid data on what the majority of players want prioritized outside of the common sense priorities like server and gameplay stability.
Dunno what type of work you do but in my line of work, if I leave something unfinished and broken and leave for 3 weeks, Id get fired.
I think they’re more concerned about retaining the players they have than the ones who already left, but I could be wrong. It wouldn’t surprise me if they hope to regain players down the line when things are more stable. It would be hard to lure them back now since most who left did so over multiple grievances that won’t be solved very quickly.
I wish the people I worked with could get things fixed in 3 weeks. Some stuff stays busted for years.
I mean, that formula worked for them for V1 and V2 so they are definitely rolling the dices on this one.
But then they also ruined War of the Roses and War of the Viking and other thigns so there is also history there.
We cant really say theyve learned any lessons so … who knows.
Actually, now that I think about it, Asqhy is going to Sweden next week to Fatshark.
So either we get an update today and then theyll discuss reaction next week or itll be release next week while she is there then theyll watch the reaction.
I kinda wanna bet itll be the week after tho at the rate things are going.
Yeah, that’s what I’m getting at, essentially. Numbers are a lot easier to sift through than literally every possible thread out there on every social media platform. Not perfect, but then again it’s ultimately trying to form a coherent strategy based on an anomalous mass of people. Hell, you and I have disagreed on things even here despite agreeing quite a bit as well, now multiply that by thousands and with less agreeable people ![]()
Yeah, Vermintide 2 had a similar issue with a very rough launch and then a later resurgence once it got major patches. You can see the spike up again in early 2021. Amusing see it spike up again in November too, with them giving it away + hype for Darktide.
There’s also some loud and persistent voices across forums that have made it clear they don’t have the game anymore (or never did) so I can understand linking the survey to the launcher. Their input isn’t as important as the players they still have on the line, even if just barely.

How rushed was this survey and did a second person even read it? There is at least 3 CMs. And a marketing manager.
Come on. I know some people are defending them but holy sh!t.
Actually. I forgot. Creating surveys is probably very complex and this isnt COD.
The survey was perfectly fine, it gets the job done. Some people seem to whine about pretty much anything…
There were a few errors in the text, which (although they might not necessarily hinder the understanding of the text) looks a bit unprofessional.
However:
Them making this survey in the first place, at least makes it seem like they are willing to actually listen to feedback and make changes.
There are multiple points of complaint about Darktide, that were discussed on the forums, which i noticed to be included in the answer options of the survey.
So apparently, they are reading through our feedback and are considering that others might feel the same way.
I am pretty much fine with the survey questions and answer options. Additionally, there were multiple sections, where the survey gave us the option to give an „alternative“ answer and write it down. If these answers are actually read and analyzed, more hope for us.
It might be problematic, that a ton of people have already left the game (probably mostly because of the lack of progression past lvl 30) and will not likely respond to the survey at all, so there might be some survivor bias in the data gotten from the survey at this point.
Anyway, let‘s hope that appropriate changes will be made and that the game will be saved.
My main worry with this survey is that it makes it sound like they havent done much since launch. And once the data is gathered, theyll brain storm and come up with an idea.
That is a huge timeline.
Paying for a game only to hope to be able to play it a year later is not how I look at gaming.
It didnt have to be this way. And it was delayed so many times.
Still wish I could refund everything. Then id never come back to this forum. Or anything Fatshark related.
There are parts within the survey that allow people to place other comments which I most certainly did. It’s not much but its there.
But overall, this is the same kind of survey that was pushed within the Closed Beta and Pre-Order Beta which really makes me wonder if these Forum topics are being actually reviewed or if they are being skimmed read a first couple of posts before “assuming” what the players’ issues are with this game.
They did a similar approach about a month after “Winds of Magic” launched as the first major DLC for V2 (widely if not universally disliked DLC). It had similar translation / grammatical problems. The launcher looked a lot different back then and so I got that survey request via email. Sad thing is I wont be filling the Darktide one in as I have uninstalled the game, maybe I’ll reinstall just for this…
I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re not looking at the forums at all, save to close down threads where they need to apply moderation, and replying to things on the technical support forum category.
They haven’t posted here in days. Yet they’re on discord chatting it up, apparently running a 40k book club, and dropping little bits tidbits of info there.
I guess discord is the new official forums when it comes to CM interactions. I hate it. It was more toxic with the people there than it is here. At least here people can’t or don’t spam their opinions 20 posts per minute.
To clarify, I don’t hate that CM’s are taking their time running 40k book clubs and book club giveaways on discord. I hate that they’re not #@&$ing communicating about all this stuff. I would have loved to have involved myself in that but I had no idea it was even going on. If I don’t know about this stuff while on their official forums, Reddit, or twitter, what the heck do the community managers actually do?
Surveys have a purpose for the people making them, they don’t need to make sense to you.
In fact… @Tzcheese explained that bit a few posts above yours.
