The state of Darktide at the moment 43% positive Jan 10 2023

I believe this to be 100% correct.
Keanu apparently asked for a bigger role once they had gotten a lot of the recording done, and since CDPR was a huge fan, they decided to scrap the majority of the content in favour of Keanu’s new main character status.
Note that the game had already been in development for 3-4 years, and Keanu’s request put them back to only having 2 years at most to finish the game. This meant scrapping the whole story, beginning from scratch and creating whole new assets and everything else.
I love Keanu, but I blame him largely for this fiasco, and I blame CDPR’s management for stupidly taking his request at heart.
It wasn’t an engine problem at all, they would’ve been able to manage all the things they had plans for-- the problem was entirely that Keanu changed the whole structure of the game, and with less time to develop, it changed from a deep RPG to a run-and-gun looter shooter.
CDPR betrayed all of my trust with that game, and FatShark has likewise betrayed all my trust with them as well.
CP2077 will be forever tarnished and I will never again pick up that game, but FatShark can still save Darktide-- just know that I will never again buy a game from either of these developers.

Game director said he’s very satisified with DarkTide and the reception it’s been getting

 Everything is fine, folks.

The game director is lying or very naïve if he thinks a 44% rating is good.

If I were a game director and the game I released was below a 66% rating (i.e 1/3 people dislike the game), I’d be shattered that the game was received so badly. Instead of lying about it and pretend everything is fine I’d admit the state is not good and that it would be fixed/updated to how the player base wants the game to be.

Sadly only small indie teams tend to have the balls to own up to their mistakes, bigger companies will simply tell lies constantly to try and save face for their investors. The thing is the investors don’t make profits for the company, the consumers do. No consumers = no money flow = bankrupt company. I can’t see many buying Darktide with it’s current state and review score.

Anyway, I hope they break the radio silence soon and don’t try to pretend everything is ok like their naïve game director.

And the problem with a game like Darktide that’s an always-online Live Service game, is that when things go bad for a long period of time… the developers will shut off the servers to save money and effectively kill the game for everyone. Everything you’ve bought, every minute you’ve spent… all of it cease to exist.

I agree, though at least it somewhat got us the animated series, which is not only absolutely lit on the animation and story-telling level, it captures the “old” flair of “late 1970s to early 1980s gritty Cyberpunk” absolutely spot on.

Talking school grades, 44% is a closer to an F than to a D-.

I would like the anime a lot more if it wasn’t depressing as hell though

Based and Formula pilled.
This post of yours deserves it’s own thread. Fatshark needs to see this, especially their creative and management leads.

i’ve played Sea of Thieves from Alpha to Beta, to Season 2 roughly 2 years ago.
Its in Season 8 afaik and a very successfull game.
This said Rare and FS are not comparable in any way.

harm is done, FS can recover like many games could reover from their bad launches, but it would need significant changes and improvements + continously adding content that please the playerbase.

imho they are aware on what they are sitting and had the impudence to release DT in the state it is and having a shop.

They know their core game is fun and therefore think thy can bother their customers/ players with feature incomplete (crafting), bugged and not optimized game + MTX.

It should keep circling the drain because we’re on week 3 of ‘the sharks are getting settled in community update this week at the earliest’. My god they have to be doing it on purpose at this point, the tanking your live service game down to 3k players in a month from 100k speed run.

And this is where FS will absolutely c*ck it up.

Firstly, Significant changes don’t really happen if we look at VT2 for guidance as to the modus operandi. A Big Balance Patch happened once I think… off the back of a community mod.

Secondly when FS did attempt something huge in Winds of Magic they entirely f*cked the game right in the marmite fritter and the recovery process for WoM took forever. Battle Wizard was KABOOM crazy for months, and it took a fair while to get the Stagger Mechanic right.

Finally, They introduced Chaos Wastes which was largely successful and brought players back - but it divided an already small community into three seperate game modes.

So I believe that irrespective of the community explosion of nerdrage, FS will continue with their tootling along and just make what they fancy. Maybe 2024 there might actually be a functional game here.

I’m still salty it cost me 32 quid for a game barely complete, and i’ve uninstalled until there’s at least some kind of changes coming. I’m even more salty with myself for expecting FS to actually do something properly. Stupid Me.

that would be really sad.
I know the Genre, but no game neither L4D 1 or 2 nor VT 1 or 2 was appealing to me. I played L4D 1 and VT1 for only 10-20 hours maybe and didnt try the successors.
Darktide in it’s core i like and i have 350+ hours into it and “the legend grows” done!
Not only because its WH40k - i refunded Deathwing and love Space Hulk Tactics, Battlesector etc. etc., but because the combat is fun and i think the classes are in a good balance more or less.

Like everyone else i hate crafting beeing incomplet for this long after a full release and i dont like all the RNG Shop and some other RNG elements of the game.
I can see why somethings are RNG and when it comes to Missions i understand it and arent upset about not be able to play the mission and conditions i want or need, because i already see too much min maxing, rushing and alike that is not my thing and it spoils me the game when people start to grind one or two missions and rushing them nonstop (because of rng) and the rest is oprhanded.

Well i have fun with some class and builds, but i wont play 1000 hours only to wait for the opportunity to do a penance or be lucky in the shop and with consecrating.
I played chivalry 2 before mostly, for years, i played Sea of Thieves for 3 years, i spend money if games are fun, but i’m neither an addict nor have i ocd or are an achievement hunter.
I’m a player playing for fun and until DT is fun, but with a bitter aftertaste almost all the time.

Same man… I should have known better too

I don’t think… I begin to thnk that they have no respect for the customers and are surely busy thinking about console port.
I was confident at first that they would come back to us, after their holidays, The CM had said it to us. He said soon. Now, I would like that he explains me what means soon for him.
I think that they don’t care that the game is not finished, that RTX makes it crashing, is unplayable for several people, that it lacks content and that several features are not here…

But, this doesn’t mean that this game is not great… in fact it is. But the state of the game doesn’t really permit to progress. So maybe a pause is needed. Don’t know…
I have witcher 3 with RTX to play, I can play chivalry 2 or even buy deep rock galactic that seems good…
What makes me raging is the lack of respect for their customers. Even for just making an announcement they don’t succeed to do it like they say they would. So, I have no illusion about the crafting (essential to really play this game)…
I just hope I am totally wrong and that FS will announce soon the crafting and release it soon after… but I think that I am, here, dreaming

I’m stealing this.

Oh the soon™. Haven’t seen that on the forum in a while.

As you can see they trademarked that word. It happened way back when…

Based on previous experience I think the definition is along the lines of “sometime in the future or not at all”.

That perfectly describes my plans to return to the DT: soon.
