Really enjoying the most recent patch. Only a few things that still irk me about the game besides crafting RNG which i’ve made my peace with.
Shared Currency/Inventories
I’d really like to see shared currency between characters. This seems like a nobrainer? Don’t silo our characters it discourages us playing multiple chars. I also find it really difficult to roll the same weapons for each character. For example I have 3 Antax V brutal momentum + (headtaker, decimator, etc). I have 3 vraks mkIII crucian/no respite. And now since the crucian nerf i have to work on 3 separate chars worth of vraks MKIII’s to get weapons that I want. Please please please share inventory with common items, curios, and currency. Please.
Blessing Balance
Slaughterer, Pinning Fire, heavy swords Headtaker stand so tall above any other blessings. Why? Please make some other blessings more attractive.
Everything else is feeling much better. The new force swords and psyker buffs make my class feel far closer in terms of power to vet/zealot.
The blessing balance in the game is atrocious. With very few exceptions, blessings are integral in determining a weapon’s competitive viability (compared to other weapons) in high level play. If a weapon doesn’t have a stacking power blessing available that provides a large buff and generous refresh conditions (headtaker, decimator, pinning fire, blaze away, etc), it’s almost guaranteed to underperform.
Every weapon category needs a decent stacking power blessing, and some of the current stacking power blessings need to be nerfed, pinning fire being the absolute most egregiously broken blessing in the game at the time of writing.
Infantry/Lucius lazguns and Headhunter autoguns should have stacking power on weakspot hits with the standard refresh period. This blessing already exists on the knife in the form of executor. It’s an obvious fit for these guns.
The ridiculous loading times (sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes close to 10 minutes, something is begging to be optimized there…)
Being able to change voice & name of characters without having to start new ones
We’re getting there though, the list is getting smaller.
I’m still on the fence about locking weapon stats, I don’t think they should just be completely unlocked but I do think there has to be a system to unlock them for a fee so you don’t invest a ton of effort into a weapon just to have it be bricked by stupid blessing or perk rolls.
My number 1 grievance in the game is the network model. It’s an archaic server-side model where nearly every interaction in the game is obfuscated by the delay between client and server.
Fatshark should have used a client-side, server authenticated model where the packet is sent to the server and authenticated based on the client’s perspective at the time the packet was sent. This would mean instead of a headshot blasting a heretic’s brains everywhere but doing precisely 0 damage and displaying no hitmarker because the server “saw differently”, the heretic’s brains would spray and the hitmarker and damage would simply be delayed based on your ping to the server. The hit would register or not solely based on what you saw on your screen.
This network model is not new. Virtually every online game made in the past decade+ has been using it. The model we got in Darktide is ancient and effectively never used anymore.
