You wouldnt steal a grandma! You wouldnt steal a parking ticket! You wouldnt steal a 1950’s wooden mallet made for gently caressing a january sale leaflet from argos! Piracy is stealing… even though its technically not actually stealing but ignore that inconvenient truth because funky music!

Viva La High Seas!

I’ve already told my @Khorne_Dawg buddy, and maybe you already know this, but the funny part about these anti-piracy ads is that they didn’t have the rights to the background music in their clips, therefore the anti-piracy guys are pirates! :pirate_flag:

I did not know that! and that makes it even more beautiful!

It was just some lowlife artist like myself who they employed to make a vid/music, maybe even the person making the vid outsourced the music/mixing to another person and they didnt check them out first or something.

Either way, thats put a beautiful cherry on top of an already terrible cake :joy:

That is what I have found. Stupid OP powers and single shotting everything.

And I am so sick to death of these “in game anime” where evering is based on levels and picking skills, that are gained to easy and just OP… It just stupid and garbage. Which was why Frieren was such a breath of fresh air.

Prefer mature anime (not hentai), but stuff like Ergo Proxy, Technolyze, Serial Experiments Lain, something that has been written by adults for adults and not hormone filled teens… I hate stupidly size breasts that look completely out of place. I like to think when I watch stuff, I like deep stories…

It’s why I think the Expanse is the best bit of Sci-fi to come out in the last 30 years, for a TV series, and the new Dune films are proper good too, plans within plans.

Anime needs to go back to the 90 and come up with fresh original anime rather than this current trend of unoriginal, stupid drivel they are pumping out.

Personally I would love to see a full Blame adaptation faithful to the manga.

Not true, there is an argument that British conquered so much of the world in order to civilise it. After the amount of money spent fighting the global slave trade, from the west coast of Africa to the East Coast of Africa from place like Zanzibar.

Which is where Swahili came from, this melting pot of African and Islamic cultures, hundreds of years, if not thousands of years before Europeans got involved. Around 800c AD, the ruler of the Abbasid Cafilate boast of 40,000 African slaves in his army.

The British also blockade the new country of Brazil until it made slavery illegal, used it to bash the French, Spanish and Portuguese… Which all cost the Britian something like 5% of her to wealth to fund.

So it is argued amongst some scholars of history that it was Britians war against slavery that was the reason Britain went out and subsequently conquered the majority of the world to ensure “it shall never happen again.”

Why are people responding to my British joke like it was serious? :sob:

Sorry, just though it would be an interesting bit of history to share.

And I am Autistic so can miss some joke at face value.

But I wasn;t offended by it or anything, or thought you was having a dig. I just like history and you gave me a chance to share some.

I’d still by ya beer if I could.

Preach, man, preach. I agree fully. Have you checked out Monster:

It’s one of my top favorite animes of all time. The basic premise is about a japanese man trying to hunt down a psycho killer. It’s really good. It focuses on psychological themes.

Fear is the First of Many Toes.

I’ll definitely have a look at that!

Wolf’s Rain is another good one. I loved the show so much as a kid. I used to have a hard DVD copy of it that I’d watch over 'n over. I rewatched it again as an adult and man it still holds up. I still cry like a little girl with the finales to some characters, its heart wrenching.

I was on “anime hiatus” from 2018 to 2022.

I remember when AnimeLab was still a thing… it was like Crunchyroll but with fewer ads!

My Japanese has also gotten VERY rusty with time… even though I did 6 whole years of Japanese classes!

Yeah I feel that. I sometimes get burnt out from anime and have to take breaks by rewatching my favorites.

I need to put down Dungeon Meshi and finish off Tokyo Ghoul once and for all. I wonder how the best boy (Juuzou) turns out after all of these years!

I call Anime Manga, which upsets some of my friends. It comes from when the BBC used to have things like Fist of the North Star, Akira and other movies or series on at night and it had this Manga symbol:

Manga3

Which wasnt easy to find!

It’s been years since I’ve seen any anime worth watching (aside from AoT, even if that was much overhyped in its own way), part of that is because the pirate/torrent scene has atrophied with the rise of stuff like Crunchyroll and my connections to the genre withered, but also just because there hasn’t been much of interest to me. I think the last anime I watched through aside from that was Made in Abyss, and that wasn’t particularly recent.

I love 80s and 90s cyberpunk and scifi anime. Stuff like Megazone 23, Ghost in the Shell, Armitage III, Angel Cop, Bubblegum Crisis, Cyber City Oedo 808, Genocyber, Infinite Rivius, Iria Zeiram, Outlaw Star, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Neo Tokyo, etc, and of course anything with a Mech (Gundams of all types, Appleseed, etc), along with newer 00’s stuff like Ergo Proxy and Witch Hunter Robin.

Alas of late I don’t see much in that vein, it appears to all be aimed at the under-18 crowd with lots of fantasy elements, and almost all appear to involve some sort of high school setting. Lots of magical heroes, class fantasies, and coming of age tales, but no cyberpunk gun battles.
