Honestly if they just increase the ammo pool, mag size and make the ads less iffy then I can get behind all the other cons of the lasgun (probably needs a flak buff as well). Afterall you want it to stand out from recon and hellbore somehow. The brown mark needs some help tho.
Their visual design is different, but mechanically they fulfil basically the same weapon roles.
I donāt want to resolve to ārealismā principles to solve this, but the reason for this - ILGs having felt recoil - is embedded in how the gun is supposed to feel in the game, in the setting (feel punchy/affirm the user it has āpowerā), despite being a standard-issue IG firearm with no redeemable qualities beyond being a sturdy weapon.
Recons and Laspistol donāt have sizeable recoil, because they are fast-shooting weapons that are primarily expected to be used in close quarters combat (Infernus notwithstanding, since that blessing can make them work at any range), so they are recoil-less for worse long-range combat qualities, butā¦
What I believe the real caveat of ILGs is, is what GMG_Pie has already mentioned:
And with that in mind, they will likely never be as good as some expect them do be. Maybe itās good to have some ābadā guns - there is no way ILGs will ever reach the unbridled potential of inattentive sniping like Bolt or Plasma guns do, but they could use minor changes to make them feel less bad.
No it wasnāt, the XII once dominated Damnation difficulty as one of the most popular weapons.
They just fell off with increased enemy density and more armor units.
Yeah, pre talent trees infantry were so reliable that fatshark thought they would survive the power creep.
I agree, but it also had something to do with the fact that launch period was a time where people were arguably just ābadā at the game (myself included) - anti-ranged weapons had a niche then, since ranged threat couldnāt be dealt nearly as well as it is now - and ātodayāsā combat focus is in making melee enemies lethal/amplify every other type of enemy.
Cleave-less weapons like ILGs suffer greatly because of that, since sniping specials in crowds of enemies is nowhere near as feasible as it was way back when, but people also have gotten better at the game and certain ranged options were buffed immensely, in comparison to ILGs which are leagues behind the viability curve due to their mediocrity.
I think heās talking about the lore not ingame performance
- Decrease/remove beam spread, hipfire should be reliable
- Recoil animation is a junky ass, scope just jumping all around
- Add some cleave
- Reduce the damage gap between headshots and bodyshots a bit (all sharpshooter talents)
- Add talents/blessings to buff defense during ads. Ads takes time to go in and out, reduces you fov, wich is dangerous in fast paced game you need to move a lot
Tbh having a gun with such terrible damage also have massive recoil feels even worse than a gun with no recoil at all.
Iām pretty sure the Halo CE Assault Rifle feels better than then Infantry Las at this point.
When the Weapon Customization mod updates, you can get it so you just have a dot with the Las Pistol. Also need the āWeapon Customization No Scopeā mod.
Can do that with all of the guns. I have my ADS at the bottom of the screen, like Doom, and then just a dot.
Then you just need the mods that make your crosshair actually show where youāre shooting.
Oh the flashlights meme has been around tons longer than Darktide. Regular old tabletop 40k is stacked with opponents who are, individually speaking, significantly more dangerous than your average guardsman. Youāre not fighting hive scum in tabletop, youāre fighting space marines and the like. Against space marine, it kind of is a flashlight, so the Guard make up for it with large amounts of infantry and massed fire.
Of course, the math changes when, instead of Orks who could bench your car or some crap, youāre just shooting another guy. Thatās what weāre up against, a lasrifle should cauterize a hole through a dude.
Almost all of the worst guns in game have the same problem.
They have this much recoil
But only this much damage
Today I learned there is a bullet smaller than the .22.
