The Drastic Decrease of Quality Players!

I think alot of these terrible players leave games if they need rescued because theyre used to losing like 90% of their games playing with total noobs on damnation. You arent good enough as a player to stay alive but yet you want to leave the moment you need rescued because you dont want to watch someone else play even though you could probably learn a thing or two lol. God forbid you have faith in someone clutching. Its also hilarious they arent good enough to stay alive but wont go down in difficulty they just continue to constantly die in hi shock missions and yet they keep burdening the team cuz eventually they will get more penance points as opposed to going back to malice where they belong.

i dont think they would, even if they took the time to watch.
you could show shakespeare to a chimpanzee for a decade, doesnt make him “quote the bard” :joy:

usually such stuff is so far out of their realm of imagination they cant make sense of what you’re pulling off to save the run, let alone at the speed its happening.

and that would be perfectly fine IF after some repeated fails, people would accept their level of competence and call it a day.

now that right there is up for debate  at a certain age you’ve “done” about all there is, reached farm status so to speak and realise:

the loot sucks
the endgame is always the same
no matter the gear it doesnt add more attributes

but slaying heretics for the emprah, that never gets old, sah.

At this point, even level 300+ can be “new” players that don’t actually understand how to play the game, especially if they play a training wheel build like Smite Psyker or VoC vet.

The problem is that this game isn’t even all that fun to play with in a full group of capable players either. Especially if you have friends that somehow enjoy spamming obnoxious stuff like Plasma vet.

I personally don’t care about levels, I have them turned off everywhere outside of the social menu. I only mention it for the people who put stock in them.

But yeah, that’s my point, getting that sweet spot of challenge without some sort of annoying teammate, especially with randoms.

this has always been a problem with tide games
most people suck at the game but still want to play the higher difficulties

fatshark meanwhile never cared. their “gatekeeping” mechanisms were either nonexistent or… in case of fInIsh OnE AuRiC MAElSTrOm MiSSiOn to join havoc had the opposite effect

it baffles me how people who play this game hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours showcasing theri A.S. S titles proudly be so terribad at the game. Like for real, imagine being bad at a game the game for this long without moving foward to play something else or just accepting the fact that you maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe dont belong to auric HISTG T5 or Havoc 30+

juuust maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe right

/ rant over

I go back now ingame watching 4500 penance points smite psykers dying to a single groaner :stuck_out_tongue:

I need to rant too, sorry:

I tried to play the game yesterday, just standard Auric Quick Play. Out of 9 games started, I completed 1 map. Every game was essentially a battle against time trying to keep my team mates from dying. At one point I literally watched a gun Ogryn full autoing a pack of Crushers as they walked toward him, all he did was back up and continue firing into armor…and then they smashed him. I was so transfixed by what was happening I stopped to watch it.

The last game I attempted I was able to carry my baggage of team mates to the last battle room, but they all went down 1 by 1 with leaving me to fight against an entire event on Auric HISTG (I almost did it, and probably would have been proud enough of myself to not make this post). The match ended with the most absurd scoreboard I’ve personally ever seen. I did more work than all 3 of my team mates combined…

The end game content has been made significantly harder and the player base is NOT adjusting to that fact. The game either needs a default scoreboard so people can see how poorly they have done, or Fatshark needs to to ACTUALLY skill gate the high difficulty content. And yes, this will make people “feel bad”, they need to deal with feeling bad then.

I don’t think I can play this game anymore unless it’s in a premade (so like once a month basically). I really enjoy it, but it is ZERO fun dragging dead weight through a map for 20 minutes just to fail repeatedly.

Agree about the poster above regarding scoreboard. People need some feedback in this game to put their performance in perspective. One of those players in the scoreboard went down 13 times in some combination.

One might argue that such players aren’t going to be reflective enough for a scoreboard to matter. Sure. But also I think the kind of players that are expecting to get carried are also the same ones likely to be flustered by the scoreboard showing their lesser impact - in which case that’s good in my mind. Get flustered and stop trying to box above your weight class.

I spent at least a good 20 hours in Heresy/Damnation before even trying Hi intensity, then another 20 hours in hi intensity. I wouldn’t move up difficulty unless I could at least survive a map consistently.

People have this weird FOMO mentality of needing to be part of the absolute highest tier of gameplay even if they aren’t capable of that level of play. Then when you call them out on it you get told they can do whatever they want with their time. Going to need to start gatekeeping the harder difficulties it seems

Not a FOMO mentality, its that if you’re not at that level your opinion and worth are nonexistent.

Definitely a FOMO mentality. What is the reason why someone who clearly dies 10+ times a game keeps joining said games to repeat the process? Do they enjoy wasting peoples time? Do they enjoy watching their character die over and over? OR, do they want to be apart of the hardest difficulties as soon as possible even if it means dulling others experience? I am going with the latter.

but dont they realize putting that kind of performance on display proves their worthlesness as a team member in that setting for all to see and further offers proof to the whole claim?

i mean i can run my mouth at work all day long about knocking out tyson with one hand on my back, is one thing.

stepping into the ring in front of a few million audience is a total different story, getting pounded on live tv… just saying

Jake is that you?

Hell of a bargin you got for 20 million.

What’s more funny that many of those players also ragequit immediately. I understand, bad games happen, you can die one, two, three times… But what the point of joining Auric HISTG (not even Maelstrom), dying, often right before the checkpoint or in the objective room and quitting instantly? And it’s not like they crashed, disconnected or had some IRL stuff to do – they quit right after they got down or died. And I’ve seen the same people doing it from game to game… What the hell??? You don’t want to wait one minute for the rescue, but you’re ok for going through the loading screens, waiting for the matchmaking to find you a party, only to quit two minutes into the next match???///

Yes, the average pub player is terrible and gets carried by the class/weapons.
The game was on sale and we also get the crossplay players who are…well, from my experience, most console players are worse than average. Respect for the honorable exception as always, but this experience comes from other games as well.
I really don’t know what did you expect “coming out into the cold” from preamdes

Heh it’s not really even their fault, controllers are just an objectively worse input method for FPS games (without Call of Duty levels of aimbot “aim assist” that is… LOL)

Ehhhh I still get a lot of Level 30’s that play like they haven’t figured out blocking or dodging. It’s a good thing Melk is so useless because getting “Beat 6 missions with no one dying” has started to become impossible with players that have the survival instincts of a lemming.

General Laziness, had a buddy that is about as normie you can be when it comes to games playing Ghost of Sushiman and complain he can’t just button mash his way through the combat when the games combat is more of a “dodge/block and counter” style. Also would never use his tools like throwing knives or bombs because “I’m casual” I was like “[REDACTED] those items ARE for the casuals. I can take on anything with just the sword because I can actually interact with the dodge and counter mechanics!” Hes also the kind of guy that just attempts to brute force beat his head against a problem until it eventually works, no changing strategy just do the same thing until it works and is like “fine, I"ll do the fight over, I got time.”

Yes, I can confirm this is how they act, and continue to act once you pick them up!

Yeah I’m sure all of us playing T5+ regularly have noticed the same. Both True Level and personal experiences agree that it’s pretty much worse than it’s ever been. Not that it’s a problem personally. It turned regular T5+ into something more challenging, which is basically what I was looking forward to in Havoc. Except unlike Havoc, in regular games I don’t need to bother with very specific builds nvm the whole party finder experience. :joy:

Still, I guess it just comes down to the obvious:

  • Lots of new & returning players in general thanks to Havoc & updates
  • Lots of old players moved away from T5+ into Havoc
  • Any 2-3 experienced person premades would find basic Aurics / Maelstroms easy, so they’re more likely to move on to Havoc

All in all, T5+ has, in a way, become the new Heresy of sorts. As said I don’t really mind it but it certainly requires a lot more focusing now than before. Most teams now have True Level 30-50’s who play like you’d expect and keep dying to random horde & bursters left and right.

I will continue to stand behind relying on true level being a silly expectation.

Generally my worst experiences have been with the triple digit players. :person_shrugging: Bad players be bad.

watches the entire team leap into the finale and instantly die while not using a single medicae charge after I had to save them for the third or fourth time that map

internal screaming

judging by some specimen i’ve recently seen on the mourningstar, new players that have just passed level 30 seem to jump directly into maelstrom and havoc, complete with bad gear and bad builds. like, bad as a ps5 guy using a laspistol with tier 1 blessings and random perks, and 2 blue curios. or it was secretly someone who can play auric with starting gear :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
