The Book of Grudges: Because Fatshark Won't Listen

Vraks MK 7 one hit too real :pensive:

Hah, I named it that back before they buffed it. Now it’s unironically my most powerful sharpshooter weapon. On a marksman build that thing demolishes almost anything in 1-2 weakspot hits.

They arent called CM’s anymore for their own protection.
They are now undercover CM’s.
No one remembers to not kill the messenger, so they now send staff dressed up as common folk with status.

Add this to your Book of Grudges.

Of all the years I’ve been here, not once have I ever seen anyone in the Darktide subforum get promoted to ‘Community Hero’ status, promoted to moderator, or even invited to that super duper exclusive playtesting group. Not once has any one of our own ever reached any status of significance. Meanwhile, discord outsiders have somehow been privileged to both lord over us while being privy to things that we don’t even get a right to know - which is funny, it’s the official forums, you’d think we’d at least be privy to some things.

In contrast there’s been a few instances in the Vermintide subforum where someone reached ‘Community Hero’ status and such.

…now that you point it out, it is kinda odd.

A company that cared would do something like giving people like @brosgw an eye on their planned crafting update and the playtesting.

But the forums are pretty obviously the dumping ground for Fatshark’s PR ig.

If nothing else Brosgw should have at least be given ‘Community Hero’ title for compiling all that feedback into a digestible manner - he did an actual community service. Same with a few Darktide posters on the gameplay subforum who constantly help players out by giving advice and what not.

Maybe they wouldn’t trust my capability at signing NDA’s or being impartial or something.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

If it was me, I would just open a beta branch and get feedback early. If people don’t like it, that’s good. Better than it going to PRD and being disliked. People are more forgiving that way.

I love how satisfactory handles communication and pushes their updates and they always do a public beta.

At this point I feel like the FS forums are my unpaid internship for crafting threads. Leave it open at the side while doing my regular 9-5. I honestly feel like I will lose a bit of my raison d’être if all the crafting and itemization stuff gets resolved.

Pretty interesting that people who had posted… once? on the forums are suddenly community heroes of the forums. Real strange move, to be honest.

'Course, Fatshark does a lot of strange moves.

Yes. Another thing entirely to give such outsiders who lack the nuisance of this community’s culture to be enforcers of what content should be removed, deleted, or censored.

It’s just another symptom of never looking outside their old ‘core’ community. Not for playtesters, not for moderators, not for feedback.

Us whenever they post

I’m not even sure how they think they’re getting solid feedback from discord. There’s a constant barrage of one sentence messages in most relevant channels, so what are they even picking up? The forums are completely the opposite and somewhere actual discussion happens by people who are (probably) on average more engaged than the average discord server member. What they’re doing just seems completely backwards, priorities wise.

They have a private discord with their special core community. I assume with maybe 20 people, so things won’t get lost so easily.

Among it’s members is the guy who wholesole stole a mod and passed it off as his own. They liked him so much for that, that they invited him to FS HQ in sweden.

Also among it’s members is a streamer who was just ‘so much better than everyone else’ and pulled off impossible key combinations. Without macros. Totally. Was found out, but FS loved him so much they couldn’t wait to invite him to FS HQ.

Right, but even then, how do they elect who to add to it? Because it doesn’t seem like they’re doing it from the forums, which would be where the most useful demographic resides.

clout

It’s mostly not Darktide people. It’s their old ‘core’.
Streamers and modmakers primarily, and of course some of the completely impartial heroes that have taken on moderator duties for free, and the like.

God that’s f*cking stupid but I guess that just means it checks out.

I have to agree here.

New maps are one thing, you don’t want those in an open beta because when they drop everyone is gonna have already played them.

But if you’re going to release the ‘solution’ to the single biggest issue the community has with the game…you need it tested beyond your buddy circle.

Yeah honestly, just do a weekend long open playtest or something, not like that’s a novel idea.

Well, I can tell you one thing for sure, from my experience in following Vermintide usually feedback from steam and on here is ignored unless people make a lot of noise on an issue.
