Since patch v1.10.0 ALL textures do not load or stream in during missions (blurry). Affected missions: all/random - some missions load correct, some do not have any clear/loaded textures until end, some load after 10-15minutes.
I’m using a AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB. Game is on a NVMe SSD - no problems before patch - tried different drivers (also newest driver 25.12.1), reinstalling, deleting settings files.
The game also crashes every time hitting the exit button which possibly prevents correct caching. → crash occurs while the game compiles/stores shaders before the .exe closes.
Possible workaround → deleting all or some of these cache files solves issue until next game start: \AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide - “shader_cache.hans, shader_library.pso_lib, state_stream_library.pso_lib”. Using “high preset” in addition without anything raised to extreme or mesh/decals modified ensures everything is also loaded faster.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Start game, play a mission = all textures blurry until end of mission or most time of mission.
Exiting the game is always a crash.
Deleting some cache files before start (see description) and using “high preset without anything raised to extreme or mesh/decals modified” resolves issue in most cases until next game start.
After 1 start problem seems to have returned- had do delete the cache files again. Now I’m trying to use “read only” on the file (right click file atttributes) → [NOT WORKING]. Still figuring out what to do, to solve permanently.
EDIT → config changes don’t solve the problem permanently!
Make sure the listed pso files are never present when starting the game.
I have this happen only in the valkyrie, once I load into the mission it all seems to be okay
I have the all the streaming settings set in the .ini’s per the threads on here and it works good normally but since the newest patch (and now newest AMD adrenalin drivers) I was wondering what was causing it
Delete before start. The (corrupted) files are created on exiting Darktide.
New Discovery: Tested almost all maps - sometimes it still takes 2 to 5minutes to load in (this time because shader cache is now missing). In my case using the high preset (max recommended settings) without anything on extreme or modified decal amount/ mesh distance etc. boosts this to instant loading and solves the issue. Ragdolls (CPU) do not affect this - so 50 is possible.
Tomorrow i’ll try again to completely reinstall the drivers with DDU and also rebuild the shader cache without log errors. Maybe it will work this time.
Deleting the files every time I play is still better than playing a whole match with this blurry mess It’s now Fatsharks turn to help us I guess
I have this happen only in the valkyrie, once I load into the mission it all seems to be okay
Clarification: my problem is not textures streaming slow (which can happen in the valkyrie) - it is ALL textures are not streaming or loading at all - sometimes until mission end after 20min+
Also there is a guaranteed (silent) crash on exit while the game stores shader cache:
After doing a little more research: the problem can’t be resolved on user side. There is a problem saving the “PSO” cache on exit since 1.10 - this has nothing to do with AMDs driver in particular, it’s more an engine/game bug on exiting but also in combination with AMD 7000+ series hardware.
Only way is the already mentioned method by deleting the pso cache before every game start.(Actually I didn’t try medium textures - it is unacceptable, sorry )
This also comes with some disadvantages - because of the missing cache the computer must load everything “live” - this can also cause map textures to load late - but this is only temporary. The longer the session or the faster the system the better it will run visually. I think this method won’t work good on low-end GPUs with less than 16GBs without impacting performance.
@FatsharkJulia Please help <3 Any additional Info needed?
I’ve tried to delete the whole Darktide folder with settings and cache and I have suspicion that shader cache synced somewhere else(like steam cloud saves?). Because when I started DT launcher and hit “Play” button, I immediately got shader cache file back with exact size it was before deletion. I haven’t tried to disable cloud saves in steam and launch the game like this yet.
are created on exit - as far as I know these two PSOs are the main problem. I also looked for cached files in the Steam shadercache but the corresponding “1361210” folder is empty.
@Archnium would be nice if you could tell us, if the workaround also works on your side.
Btw are all people in this thread running 7000 or 9000 series Radeon cards?
I have tried setting my textures to medium. I’ve also tried the work around of deleting those files on game exit.
I have about a 50/50 success rate by doing those two things. However, some map geometry just refuses to load. Most of the time it’s textures on the ground.
I never had this issue prior to Hive Scum.
I’m going to attempt to try and delete my appdata folder as well as my steam cloud data.
It would be nice to know which files in there pertain to my loadouts at the very least. But for now I’ll just make my own backup of the entire folder.
I’ve also been plagued with crashes whenever I have framegen enabled, and having framegen enabled also seems to exacerbate this texture streaming issue for me.
