Taunt on Zealot!?

Because I’m bored of the toothpick and the knife and would like to be able to tank ranged damage in other way than spamming slide.
You could also add a node (in place of the one before Until Death which currently provides 5% movement speed) that taunts enemies when you stagger them, so it also works with the charge skill.

Yeah, I’m not interested in PVP, and since it’s avoidable, I’ll do my own thing solo, turning NPCs blood into water.

Hopefully there will be some lore and immersion to fall into, although I’m not expecting much on that front.

I still play Darktide, but I’ve become cynical with the game’s recent trajectory and the total butchering of RPG features found in Vermintide 2 in favor of Darktide’s zoom zoom action, which makes Darktide feel arcade-y.

I can’t get lost in the world of Darktide because the game’s very design, continuously reminds me that I’m playing a game.

Mortis Trials, as amazing as it is, makes this very clear, with the whole “simulation thing” tearing me out of the experience and don’t get me started on Havoc…

I agree, I would like shields but ofc not the same gameplay

Have you perhaps tried just dodging left or right? I dodge basically everything from just the simple dodge mechanic. Only time I slide is for extra range when im so close to a ranged enemy and they’re likely about to fire.

Slide spam and dodge is pretty much the same and you know it.

Sorry, but I think the vast majority of us play video games to play video games. Knowing we’re playing a video game is a good thing. Keeps us grounded in reality so we don’t start having trouble distinguishing that from fiction.

A excellent book, movie, or role-playing game immerses you in the plot and transfers you to another world for a short time.

Books would be pretty uninteresting to read if you couldn’t become immersed in the places and characters you’re reading about, and when that happens, you lose track of time for a while.

Even sports work on the same premise: whether you run, lift weights, or participate in team sports, your entire focus is on the action at hand, and “real life” is filtered out.

If you don’t become immersed in lifting or jogging, you will never progress at what you’re doing because your brain isn’t where it should be, which is to take the activity you’re doing seriously.

Imagine if I couldn’t get lost in my TV series on my iPad during my daily two-hour trip to work via public transportation.

That’d be boring.

No disrespect, but yours is a rather casual take, which is OK, but saying that “most people play games to play games” is something I disagree with, particularly when it comes to narrative-driven games.

I really dislike Mortis Trial, but personally, it’s more the bonuses that feel arcade to me.
Havoc modifiers (which I tested in solo games), with ugly 80s effects (outlines with awful colors), are also something I totally hate.

Tbh, I won’t go to this game for the PVP.
But I know that this part can also be interesting. I have a long history of playing MMOs with PVP (mainly Neocron and Face of Mankind… I played WoW, but I don’t consider that game to have a real PVP feature).
As I said, I want to play it just to see Dune, to walk on Arrakis. I know it might sound stupid, but it’s truly a dream.
And the game still looks like something I want to play. RTS is less immersive, but I also love RTS (I’m currently playing AC Shadows and I’ve always loved the RTS view).
The fact that there are several gameplay types, the shields, the melee being important, etc.—I hope I won’t be disappointed…

I like the action in Darktide. However, seeing 25 Dreg Ragers or a wall of 20 Crushers is, for me, immersion-breaking, as I find it totally stupid.
I remember the first time I played a Damnation (way before Patch 13). It ended with a sea of horde in front of me. As I was playing an Ogryn, it was impressive to see all those Groaners and Poxwalkers…
Since Patch 13, I’ve never seen that again. Now, we see more elites than hordes. This is due to two factors:

  • they’ve buffed us so much that hordes are wiped out quickly
  • the number of Groaners/Poxwalkers seems to have been significantly reduced

For me, this is a game-breaker. Seeing lots of horde AND lesser enemies is something I expect. When there are more Gunners than lesser enemies, more Dreg Ragers than horde enemies remaining alive… well, I can’t think of anything other than “stupid” and “ridiculous”.

even in 40k there are way more civilians than combatants especially in a hive city, so the infected civilians should be the most numerous bar none. gotta agree

You guys are living in a different reality.

I suppose you also enjoy movies with bad acting and plot holes for that same reason.
