Talents (Marksman's Focus) should not Promote poor playstyles

I have a few issue with how Marksmans Focus keystone (and in general other talents in the past, and maybe the future) are designed, similarly to my issues with Camo-Expert was pre-patch 13.

Consider the following, Darktide is a very fast pace game; and you have a few rules that you should follow at a higher level:

  1. maintain Coherency bonus, as that 's important for both you and your teammates for regenerating toughness.
  2. To maintain advantageous ground. You need clear sightlines to shoot past teammates, and you need cover with how frail vet is to ranged and melee enemies, even with executioner’s stance… especially with how buggy some of their toughness perks are right now.

The thing is, the concept of advantageous ground is very fluid, especially when it comes to HISTG or other really intense game modes. On top of that, if your Ogryn or other characters move to block a choke, your current position becomes worthless, as even adjusting slightly removes all stacks of the talent.

Marksman’s focus also forces vets to stand out in the open. You don’t jiggle peak or use cover when it comes to hoards of shooters; you effectively have to stand out in the open and try to Rambo the crowd, and hope you’re not being a determent to the team by soaking all this damage. The keystone doesn’t really promote teamwork, it promotes selfish play in the worst ways, just like how camo expert dumped all the aggro on other players suddenly, just so the veteran could play selfishly (and also promoted low coherency veterans).

I feel like this talent should have been a stacking buff for staying in ADS, whereas you’re punished for getting staggered by melee or snipers, or being forced to switch to your melee weapon because you made a bad decision, not punishing you for your Ogryn doing their job and taking space, but making you doubly dead weight in not maintaining coherency; AND forcing you to move 2 feet to get a better angle (which resets your DPS). It’s great for the Plasma Gun though I guess.

My first experiences with it say that close range rapid fire weapons get far more consistent use out of this buff than marksman type weapons. If you take the modifier that gives free stacks, you’re rarely without 4 or 5 of them even when running with the team. The only time I’ve really run dry so far is between fights when we’re just kind of running around with nothing to kill.

Losing stacks on missed shots would be wiser.

Itll probably be about the same ngl with how ghost hits are STILL plaguing the game… But thats a whole other issue.
