Suffering

I’ve been playing since October of 2023.It was very good. I even buy 3 skins for my ogre, veteran and Psyker. But everything has gone wrong since the latest patches.

I’m not a hardcore player.
I’m playing on level 5 Missions (not gold) and that’s enough for me.
I’m not a bad player.
All day I work, and after work i go to home and want to play Darktide.Play! Not suffer!
These are the main words!
Why are you changing the balance of missions? Why do you increase respawns?
Why do experts fall on my head?

Level 5 missions now are pure suffering!
Do you understand that random players, who play for the most part on 4-5 lvls, don’t play well!
Those who play well, play gold missons 4-5 lvl!
Perhaps they need suffering. It would be a good idea to ask them. But I definitely don’t want to suffer!
And I don’t want to be a test subject for you!
For this u can create test server!

The game has a lot of bugs. Skills do not work as written in the list of character!
I just played a random mission where there were 4 veterans! It is ok? I think not!
We died before finishing the last boss because the game spammed us. Its ok to loose 30 min my real life for nothing?!

I’m ready to change my review on Steam to negative. And I am sure that I am not the only one who is ready to do this.

Then play on a lower difficulty.

If diff 5 was fine for you before, but is too difficult since it got rebalanced to be harder, you should no longer play on diff 5.

This has all been said before, but that advice sucks because the lower difficulties really pay out miserable materials. I don’t know what the solution is to balance risk/reward properly. But being able to break down weapons for mats would help.

If you play only for the win then you should stop right now, uninstall and play something else.

If you play on highest difficulties, you will lose no matter how good you are, everyone loses the game sometimes. This is what darktide is. Dont like it? Nobody’s keeping you here.

If lvl 4-5 are too difficult for you, then why not just play on lvl 3? Nobody’s forcing you to play on highest difficulty, there are no special rewards for heresy and damnation.

Aside from the penance cosmetics, there are no exclusive rewards to diff 4 and 5, but to be fair, they give you more mats.

Although that does not really matter when the mission time and wipe rate on high diff are high enough.

Hilariously I find them almost trivial except when the director throws a fit. but that’s probably because shield ogryn with the right build is hilariously tanky and capable of saving teams.

If you like to play 4-5 difficulties up the ladder then you SHOULD play well. There are 4 difficulties below damnation it’s not like the game hasn’t got options to make it easier. So let’s examine the 2 possible reasons you haven’t simply lowered the difficulties rather than come here to complain.

A) Pride. You’re used to the idea of being a “damnation player” and don’t want to relinquish that cause that feels bad. Understandable but not a good defence. If you are up at the 5th difficulty up you should expect to sweat a little.

B) Terrible mat rewards beneath Damnation. Completely understandable though asking them to lower damnation difficulty again is the wrong approach. I’ve been saying for what feels like god damn forever that material drops designating Damnation as a farming difficulty is a HUGE AND GLARING MISTAKE @FatsharkCatfish. People feel owed the right to play Damnation no matter how mediocre of a player they are because any difficulty below that gives an absolute pittance as rewards.

So here we go again. Give Heresy the same material rewards as damnation. Keep a low int heresy on the board at all times for hardcore material farmers. Double material drops for the difficulties below heresy so those that like malice or are helping leveling friends etc don’t feel like the game is literally spitting in their face for doing so. While we’re at it probably up material drops for all difficulties. Around 1k plasteel average for Heresy and Damn would be nice. Then ~600 for Malice etc.

Yeah they just need to sort out the spawns and sounds imo. I don’t mind tough but throwing gaggles of elites out monster doors or putting a trapper in the rafters directly above you that usually shoots her net before even hopping down is kinda just nonsense.

My general complaint otherwise is that material rewards for T4 is too low, like they should not funnel players into damnation so they can craft gear.

You need to think about it in rewards/hour though, if rewards are the goal. It doesn’t really matter that T5 pays more per completed run if you’re not completing enough runs.

Agreed, and at some point you have to be honest with yourself about where you can reliably perform/contribute/win.

But it still bites to play more boring matches for fewer materials. And in lower difficulties, you really have to pound the pavement to find the karking stuff!

Going to level 4 does not guarantee victory. According to statistics, at the 4th level there are more losses because at the 4th level there are even more beginners. They die quickly and we lose.

I have almost 200 hours of play time.
And I’m not happy.
I can imagine how many new players simply quit the game as soon as they start playing.

So play at T3 until you’re good enough to reliably clear T4 with a bad player or two.

Like, you’ve said that you’re not a hardcore player and just want to play for a bit of fun. Why does it even matter that you can’t play T5 anymore?

By your logic, i need to play T1 missions. Don’t you think that playing on easy difficulty isn’t fun either? Don’t you think this advice is stupid and obvious?

Except that’s not what @Tzcheese said though. You are putting words in people’s mouths now, so let’s cut the strawman fallacy and get back to what they suggested: do T3 until you’re comfortable enough to carry in T4. Also, try and get a premade and hop on voice comms if possible - most of the time it helps.

Either improve your skill or play a lower difficulty. All there is to it.

You’re not entitled to get carried or babied through higher difficulties because you simply want to.

See, that’s the problem.
You can’t know what was before director changes, because patch 13 where they actually changed it happened at the 3rd of october. I highly doubt that by in 2.5 days you’d actually know enough about the game, or play on dif 4-5

What are you talking about?

I bought the game in October with the sale and I have very much experienced the different takes of the director that arrived in patch 14.

I play T5 Auric and success is extremely dependant on what the whacky director decided to throw at us.
Mission modifiers rarely have an impact.
What counts are the surprise hordes or maniacs that scratch your back.

I think it’s obvious that you should play the difficulty that gives you the challenge you’re after. You’ve already said that T5 and T4 are just too hard, so the next in line is T3.

That or just beat your head against T4 until you can carry bad teams through it. At that point you’re probably ready for T5 again.

I think part of the problem is that rather than having a fairly steady jump from 3 to 4 it’s like going from a minor incline to a sheer cliff.

I’m mostly to the point where unless im heavily impaired (and even in cases when i am) i can basically do T5 normal on all my characters without breaking a sweat.

I will say from memory the jump from 3 to 4 was not a smooth jump at all, they really hit you with all the difficulty spikes at once and it takes a lot of time to adjust. Meanwhile 4 to 5 I barely noticed a difference. Sure enemy HP and Damage is up, things tend to be a lot faster and come in larger hordes but I feel a that many times i barely noticed the difference between a standard 4 and 5 match.

I don’t really know how you would fix this. Maybe take the one wound away on 5 instead of 4 or keep doing some director adjustments but it’s hard to say from a longer time player perspective since T5+ has become the new normal.

Malice definitely felt … wrong when I tried it yesterday on maelstrom. Like I only did it to waste 10 minutes of my time so the auric stuff would reset, but the map just feels like an absolute void there.
It was like 12 minute run where 60% of it could be considered just running, like no wonder everyone joins auric and just starts running towards the end …

If this is the supposed introduction to T4 or even T5 stuff then fatshark really needs to take a other look at how T3->T4 → T5 progression is done.
