Stopped seeing Ogryns altogether

most of us ogryn players are just fed up trying to tank for folks who dont use us right then being not able to get penances because they are rediculous

Whenever im on my low level ogryn i tend to run into a bunch of other ogryns, but not so much when im on my level 30 characters, which is a bit strange.

It seems that the game tries to make you players with around the same lvl, so my thought is that you meet often ogryn in low lvl because people try them out, but not so much in lvl 30/T5 because they gave up…

Ogryns are not tanks, they are tanky. They need it just to stay afloat because their hitboxes are massive.
Unfortunately ogryns are also massive LoS blockers. That means by “tanking for folks” they often protect the enemies by obscuring teammates’ vision and being an indestructible bullet barrier.
But when good players play ogryns in my games it feels like they turn invisible. It really makes a difference.

Funnily, a few days ago I was an ogryn in a mission with two other ogryns and a psyker. It did not end well since our psyker behaved like a proper VT2 zealot, running first into the crowds and completely ignoring both his ranged and brain burst. The snipers had a field day.

Yeah that makes sense, although they might be like me, and the ogryn ended up being the last character they level up.

i can say yes thats definitely so. when i play veteran no ogryn. when i play ogryn three ogryns.

I am pretty sure that almost all ogryn players i have seen on any difficulty including damnation, seemed to have the lowest awareness of the party.

I think that people often embrace the „big dumb“ when playing ogryn.
I play all 4 classes and even i do it to a degree. When ever i play ogryn, part of my brain turns off.

Played yesterday as Sharpshooter with 3 ogryns  & I didn’t have the same issue… it was Heresy…
I simply switched to plasma gun ;D it just pierces everything if needed ;D We went through map so smooth like it was nothing  They taken almost all trash enemies from me & I taken any ranged enemy that was pissing them simple as it is

A lot of Ogryns need to learn how to not be in the way, it’s genuinely hard to learn, gotta learn how to stick to the sides of doors and not taking up the entire door and other such things.

This is me but on all of my characters

Except some maps where an ogryn can handle by himself the horde, the rest of the team can cover up other ways.

mb they just the most noticeable at that. its kind of easy to see them moving around, do stupid shiit. especialy when they block your los (another reasone why game awaranes is so important for ogryns).

i like to embrace my “big dumb” sometimes as well. and that’s fine if you can get your mechanical skill to carry you automatically.
then you have more attention to spend on game awareness and make right decisions.

You can still leave openings in the doors so your little ones can shoot out of it and help, Ogryns have huge weapon arcs.

the shield could use a damage buff tbh

Without any buff to shield damage and/or attack speed, I see no point to pick it over a good knife with toughness regeneration

After testing another Damnation-Run I’d like to put in my 5-cents, too.
I do not see the NECESSETY to bring a shield.
I love my powermaul and it works well.
I am definately not a very good player, but I do not get in trouble on damnation besides some bad decisions.

I think problem is ppl tend to think the Ogryn is a tank, which he is definately not. Also he is mostly not an elites-killer (can be though). A Crowd controller is what he is, and the moment you understand that and equip and behave that way he is a good part of the team on all difficulty levles …

Thing is also other classes have to understand this, meaning it is up to Vet/Psykers to kill ranged and elites while the Ogryn is bullying arround the mobs …

I hope you’re not talking about when ogryn players plonk shield and then proceed to do nothing of value for the entire fight. Because that’s the most frustrating thing ever to have on your team.

shield feels more like a burden to me, than anything useful. i also prefer power maul since you can just hold any number of horde and elite units back, by spamming special attack. it feels abit op even.

true. there is no tanks in traditional understanding.
mb people should use word “support” to not confuse other people.
basically every class that doesn’t focus on kills, is focusing on crowd control and resing.

Every time I see an Ogryn its usually after I activate my ability and he has rushed ahead and is standing in the corridor blocking several outlines of elites. I don’t mind having them on the team but they are usually situationally incompetent.
