I play all of them and never have trouble getting a full party.
Well, except curse of comradeship (assuming that’s the one you mean). That one is truly terrible even with a premade it’s just way too overtuned to be fun. With randoms it’s downright impossible
I don’t think anybody enjoys that curse. Tzeentch Twins is the most fun by a longshot, and I know why. It’s because it actually builds on the best part of the game: the combat. Most other curses are more frustrating than fun.
A suggestion was to make Comradeship do curse instead of damage so that you recover when you’re back in proximity of the party. It’s sometimes necessary or unavoidable to get out of range, such as when a monster knocks you back, or when you have to move away from the team to take out a special. It doesn’t make sense to deal massive health damage for that.
I still remember that one time I joined a curse of comradeship game and when I loaded in I was downed 50 meters away from the team and we instantly lost because I joined
This has happened to me when others joined more than once.
the first part of this response is what im getting at. why is Tzeentch Twins buried under so much trash. its the only one i care about and honestly, everyone i played vermintide with. not a single soul likes seeing anything but that i personally know. i know a few ppl on here like other stuff but lets be honest, the mass majority of ppl want to play twins. not curse, not blind mode, not carry the afk stick.
so we’re 8 years in now and somehow the auto pilot rotation is still on putting on a playlist a lot of ppl dont like. a simple statistic of what ppl are playing could prove what im saying.
twins is def worth its own mode you dont have to wait for. i mean.. who designs a system that actively makes players NOT play the game
I disagree.
I also enjoy Twins combined with Vanguard (extra elites) weekly.
well thats still twins so u agree w/ me. i didnt mean i literally ONLY like clean twins. Obviously i vanguard twins.
hell.. i even like the annoying version with the bombrats. so yea, ur not disagreeing… unless u were being sarcastic
Yea, I’m just goofing around. I agree with you 100%.
I play weeklies all the time on both Chaos Wastes and Adventure. Quite often many players join me as well. It is fun.
What exatly is ‘twins on demand’ though?
I’ve completed Curse of Comradeship on Chaos Wastes on Cataclysm with the ‘No HUD’ modifier ontop. I did it with randoms and none of us even used mic. Instead we just nominated a ‘leader’ via text chat (Saltz is good for this) and that was that. It was pretty straightforward and was my fist ecounter with the modifier.
However, I have seen quite a few players who want to run off and do their own thing instead of working as a team, and then the tether kills everyone. I always imagine these are the ones who complain about it because they just want to be selfish. If these players want the rewards then it is just tough luck for them, learn to play properly and it isn’t too hard.
Just to add, I just completed the current Adventure weekly which is Bomb Rats and Curse of Comradeship together. Took me about 4 or 5 tries as kept having leavers. Did it with no mics and no text chat on Cataclysm.
That’s impressive
I’ve tried to do it with premade groups but even then there’s just so many situations that push you far apart. One boss swing sending someone flying = everyone starts taking damage until the group is reformed. Someone gets caught in a blightstorm. Untimely gas cloud separating you. And so on.
The distance when damage starts to happen seems way too short to me.
Well, congratulations on being an absolute god at this game I guess this combo where bomb rats cause significant knockback thus separating the party sounds like a nightmare combo with CoC. I haven’t tried it yet though.
And I’ve completed chaos wastes weekly Citadel of Eternity with Ranald’s Sparking Gift and Bomb Rats (before the nerf to both) on my 1st try on cataclysm with randomly assembled players, while the entire reddit was moaning that FS went crazy with difficulty (which they did).
The discussion isn’t whether someone can beat the weekly, but rather if it’s any fun. And while I will happily rerun twins all week long, I might play the Curse of Comradeship or The Darkness of Heresy once in a blue moon and not touch it again for months without shedding a tear over it.
And I’d sing praises to Fatshark if they threw at us twins, +specials, +hordes combined to make us earn the little white illusions, and I wouldn’t dare complain about the difficulty, instead replaying it over and over again for no extra reward.
But when difficulty is every minute or so, a pack of disabling skulls spawn in against which you need to spam jump against to not get disabled or you explode, getting knocked back every once in a while, I’ll play it once, get my rewards and never look at it again.
If you enjoy the current weekly system, that’s fine, but many of us don’t.
The point wasn’t to brag, but to just point out that it is not impossible, even when with randoms and no mic.
I also didn’t do much, I just landed a decent team, apart from the Team Killer at the end who tried to ruin it for everyone.
I could be wrong, but I think the player furthest away is the one who takes the damage?
The BlightStormers are the biggest threat from what I can tell. They will wipe an entire team pretty quickly when everyone is tethered. You definately need someone who is focused on prioritising them.
The good thing though is that once everyone is downed but not dead, the tether is gone and the last player alive doesn’t have to worry about it until they revive someone.
Since I play Iron Breaker a lot I have a lot of HP to tank the tether damage, but yeah for Kerillian I imagine she would die very quickly. A good team would already know other players issues like this though.
I also think the tether is actually easier because it forces the team to move as one unit. This allows the team to deal big damage and protect each other from Hook Rats and Gutter Runners pretty easy. Grinding through walls of Skaven is also a lot faster.
In the end Curse of Comradeship is ok. Anyone who thinks it is not most likely struggles to stick close to the team and prefers to run off and do their own thing. This is what I mentioned in my earlier reply about selfish players.
People complain because they cannot beat them and they are sore losers. That is why they are not having fun.
Problem is, when they whine about losing, they expect the devs to cater to them. This just ruins it for the rest of us more advanced players who are actually enjoying the difficulty level.
The players who are clearly struglling should just stick to Recruit and Champion. For the more advanced players, Legend and Cataclysm exists.
And honestly, I find the weeklies fun because they add variety. The standard Chaos Wastes can get a bit stale after a while. Adding random modifiers in every week makes it more appealing.
Only thing I don’t like is the disabling skulls. They don’t make any logical sense to me, and having your inputs disabled every 15 seconds is jarring. There is also that one skull that always has a delayed spawn as well to try and throw you off.
However having modifers that I do not like still makes things interesting, so I don’t really complain about them much. It is like a gamble whether you will get something good or not. It adds balance between modifers that are perferable and not preferable. If you only ever get ‘fun’ modifiers then you’d probably get bored of them quickly.
Interesting, I’ll have to try it more. The last time I did it was just with one other player (and two bots). Whenever we got too far apart we would both start taking damage. I thought it was always everyone takes damage when someone strays, but the way you’re saying would make more sense.
Oh wow that is huge. The last time I played it the tether would still be active on downed players which was awful.
So it sounds like I missed some QoL updates for this curse, and should stop complaining and try it out again. Thanks for filling me in!
You may already know this but just in case, jumping helps with these. If you’re airborne on impact then you won’t get locked down.
Wholeheartedly agree. The scarcity of a fun modifier makes it that much more fun when it cycles around.
No yeah both players will definately take damage if there is just two of you, but when there is 4 I think it is the furthest away from the group. I still could be wrong though. I should probably test it tbh. I also don’t actually know if Kerillian will die quicker from the tether, or how the devs implemented the damage mechanics on it, but I assume she would
Oh yeah I think in a Kerillian ↔ Ironbreaker tether scenario, Kerillian is gonna get rekt
Tether damage is also much more manageable with the Barkskin necklace trait, I remember it feeling a lot more doable in normal campaign mode with that. However it’s fairly rare to acquire Barkskin in the Chaos Wastes.
FS can do things that boost combat and challenge without things that are largely annoying (I’m adding perma darkness to my personal list of annoying weeklies.)
Skull of Bospheros is loads of fun at halloween so more things like Twins and Bospheros and less things like Comrades and darkness.
I happen to think weeklies might benefit from more targeting of players builds. A Weekly that really benefits shield builds, or stagger builds, or only 1H, or ranged causes half damage, or ranged causes double damage or gasp swift slaying slows the weapon rather than speeding it up and so on.
Problem is that there’s such breadth of game modes in Chaos Wastes and Weaves that Weeklies can easily overlap.
My other suggestion is we make weeklies comedy gold. A mace flings things around like Sauron, arrows make enemies pinwheel into the distance. Overheads by CW, Maulers, SV launch you up into the air like a Skyrim Giant. Ratling gunners fire Red bullets that windmill around the place like Siennas FLYFREE. Leeches transfer health from 1 player to another rather than outright killing you. Assassins sing some kind of f*cked up version of over the mountain when they’re shanking you. Hook rats drag off another special by accident.
Also the April Fools with a hammer that spanked things into space seemed such fun. 2H mace, 2H hammers clobbering things around would be so much fun. Elf can sulk. Whatever.
Would be loads of fun and people would play in the same way people play Drunken Map when it comes round even though it’s weird and frustrating its fun.
An off the hook set of comedy weeklies would be awesome.
