Special Conditions broke me

There’s a lot that needs to be addressed. For me though running missions with friends was still pretty fun, just the rest of the game needs so much work. This weekend however the Special conditions broke me. I’m so tired of seeing the damn Hounds condition. Right before Christmas they added the Hounds to test that condition and it’s been almost a full month of ONLY that condition. And every time I check the Missions and see that there’s only the High/Low intensity and NO Vent Purge or Power Out it makes me grind my teeth. Now my dentist has asked me to stop playing Darktide.

Maybe I’m expecting too much. Maybe I don’t understand how difficult it is to restart the other two conditions. Maybe I don’t care anymore. I’m done theorizing or guessing or giving them the benefit of the doubt. And while there may be more serious issues to address, this is what broke me. No more FatShark. Your game will get no more time from me until I see Special Conditions rotated out again. I don’t care what else you add or fix. To me this is the hill. I make my stand here and I’ll die on this tiny little hill.

It’s a glaring sign of the lack of interest or care that FatShark has for the game. Because this is a small simple thing that should be rotating out and adding a little flair to the missions. And if y’all won’t do the simple things that make the game more fun then you sure as hell won’t fix the larger issues that should have already been done.

Rant Over.

I agree, these double dogs global conditions have been going on for too long. Let’s have a bit of variation for once.

Now let’s have double snipers. :kissing:

Double dogs needs to end. Why haven’t they already implemented some of these that would be an easy carryover from VT2?

  • Heavy Metal - fewer dregs, and a higher proportion of Scab Ragers / Maulers
  • Turban Time - fewer scabs, and a higher proportion of Dreg Ragers / Dreg Gunners
  • Mad Science - fewer elites, more Mutants & Pox Bursters
  • Brute Squad - fewer elites, much higher proportion of Ogryn
  • Bullet Time - fewer melee elites, more gunners / reapers / shotgunners
  • In Your Face - fewer ranged, more melee

Etc etc etc.

Perso i would like conditions like :

  • no elite but hordes that keep coming
  • “only scab”
  • “only dregs”
  • no ammo (every player starts with an ammo crate and several can be looted on the map)
  • giants: enemies have a large part of bulwarks, crushers, reapers and pest ogryn
  • corruption: more you stay on the map, more the corruption is hitting you. mean you have a to go fast
  • from behind: low intensity in front of you… but 5 minutes after the mission starts, a massive horde come from behind you… horde is stopped when you reach the place where you have to hack something
  • only elites: name says it all

Players: yay scab week!
Melk: kill 1000000 dregs before the end of the week.

That’s a shame. The other two conditions are actually fun. Vent Purge lowers distance visibility so you have to be close to get a good shot in. Power Outtage makes it so dark you can’t see your hand in front of your face. But all of a sudden the flashlights on the rifles make perfect sense and are truly useful.

See FatShark?! It’s so bad that people haven’t even experienced some of the good stuff in the game.

Nonstop hounds is certainly tiresome. On the plus side, it’s been happening so long I think the entire player-base has had hound competency beaten into them.

there are already WAY too many ranged enemies…
Very often in Damnation I come around the corner, and face 20+ ranged enemies not counting elites/specials

So do we all… so what? You don’t have to do the special condition if you don’t want to. Do you always do dog missions?

You may also note that my suggestion was simply less melee elites and more ranged elites, trash mob ratio unimpacted.

I think he’s saying the “Bullet Time” idea may be too many shooters. I think…

Just another broken system, the timer “disappeared” and we have had the hounds since? Where is the lights out or the smog? Nevermind ability to choose

I only played it once. It was alright. Way better then dogs. If only it was assault instead of dogs.

I remember my first mission with darkness.
I played a fanatic with a bolter. Nothing is visible. We have lost a fighter. I walk, I walk, I turn the corner and the horde is looking at me, for 5 seconds we just look at each other, then they start screaming in unison and run at me. Deafening bolter firing, pressing the trigger from the hip until I ran out of ammo, I take out my power hammer, guts, blood everywhere, I don’t see anything…
Damn it, it was so fun and atmospheric!

I love special conditions. Have you done a damnation high intensity? This is crazy fun with a group of co ordinated friends. Currently there’s not much to do in Darktide other then chase self imposed challenge.

I really appreciate the hounds condition because honestly the hounds are the most dangerous mob (to me) in DT. The more i fight them the more i get used to strategies to effectively deal with them. I really need to stop sliding on my zealot to try and get away though.

I also didn’t know if you dodge from crouch position you roll further… pretty cool.

It’s probably bugged and should be rotating different conditions but with everyone still on vacation and no one monitoring to notice or read feedback it stays bugged

Damn it, is it true? 500 hours, and I just found out about it, wow. Thank you.

Special Conditions are annoying because the Assault (why did they try to pass this off as a new mode? There has always been a high-enemy high-pick up modifier, its called Hi Intensity) modifier is constantly on in T3-T5. Even if it doesn’t say it on the tab, or if it says another condition is up. I’ve played T4 low intensity runs with 2 bosses and 3k enemies killed, it is very clearly hi intensity. Whether you find a random pub group that can handle the constant enemies is one thing but the servers very often don’t and its straight up not fun to play.

I also get irritated more than challenged when I’m trying to keep cover at no toughness to get back in the fight and get shot in the back by the giant group of shooters that spawned there after we cleared and advanced.

Dogs are garbage, because they are so inconsistent. I’m tired of hearing ‘just push lol’ or ‘just dodge lol’. Do I need to link 20+ clips of me pushing them with a client hitmarker and no stagger? They are not working at all. But the modifiers constantly dumping Assault Mode on you without the ability to actually handle the chaos is 100% a bigger issue for me. Its actively toxic to getting new players adjusted to the difficulty when its actually a lot more chaotic than it should be. Its also an active chore to grind runs when there’s zero downtime throughout a 30 minute game.
