Industrial World (Vostroyan) or proper Forgeworlds are much more industrialised.
Cause when DT released GW was pushing Nurgle, Nurgle is easy to explain to peoples that dont have much knowledgeof warhammer, and that FS know Nurgle already
In the delusion of GSC fans. Even if a new faction is introduced, it likely won’t be GSC. But rather something they can ally up with the current factions.
They apparently did try it with friendly fire, and decided against it cause it was way to present compared to Vt1/2 (due to Ogryn’s size, and due to the much more ranged combat.
Overall, one of the big problem is that FS is not big enough. And working on an Ip, that never help.
No don’t crush our dreaming, counter-point Sienna’s Necromancer AI was said to have other purposes now that it was developed… possible at very least ally guardsmen but why no something bigger?
YES, though at next game mode we probably need to clean up the game board / lobby finder before can add any more modes.
But, am I wrong when I consider there is no background for this?
Genestealer are supposed to be hidden between us. So a faction? 1000 Genestealer on a mission map…
It makes no sense for me.
There are several ideas. The most approved is the one of Mechanicus adept.
I would prefer Ratlings…
Skitarii looks too strong and without any place in this game. But that’s just my opinion.
I would call for a “semi realistic” game mode.
With part of friendly fire (not 100% or it would me just a blood bath for us), less elite but more resistant, less specials and MORE MORE hordes and lesser enemies.
It would be a new board.
And I really would like a balance system. Like you can take a boltgun but then you cannot take also the best melee weapon… So, a balance between weapons to forbid to take 2 OP weapons.
If there is such balance, you don’t have to balance everything. You can let unbalanced weapons that have their place in the game, even weakest weapons.
I think people dont realise quite how tough a single genestealer is compared to a normal human.
Think Space Hulk. They send a squad of Terminator Armour Space Marines in to clear a swarm of them. A swarm of Genestealers just isnt happening. But I do like the idea of cultists and a Genestealer boss. It would have to be entirely separate from the Nurgle enemies as they dont get on. Or maybe have them fight with you in the middle
Genestealer cult easily could be adapted to a Tide cast, only one that would need to have new stuff written in would be the Poxwalker/Groaner equivalent.
But leaning on the Kissed would let it grow quite well
Through the use of a tube-like tongue called an Ovipositor, known informally as the Genestealer’s Kiss, they insert a tiny embryonic organism containing their own genetic material into a host victim. Over time this organism alters the host’s genetic code, and their consciousness is also completely suppressed by a localised version of the Hive Mind, known as the Brood Mind, becoming a virtual slave.
That doesn’t really matter much, Plague Ogryn lorewise should melt us just by proximity.
A plague Ogryn is a boss and we are the Emperors chosen. I know we started as rejects but its clear to me that our characters are meant to be a cut above the rest through sheer skill or faith.
A genestealer cult is totally doable, but it doesnt fit so easily in to the games story or setting, it doesnt make sense unless the two factions are fighting and we see them fighting. Also another serious enemy in to the setting risks bringing things much bigger than us, like Sister of Battle or Space Marines etc. Neither of these factions are particularly friendly to normal humans.
I would love it if they could, but I think it would be too much work whereas Id rather have new levels, new Nurgle enemies and loads of new weapons.
And similarly Genestealers would fit more as the Monster and not part of the hordes.
Yes, and tbh, I’d rather not see dev time wasted on such mechanics.
Not necessarily, it’s really just a narrative wrench, noone is coming from outside the Domain.
Level and weapon devs aren’t the one making enemies, so doesn’t exactly matter. Though if they add a new faction, do they keep Infested/Unarmoured/Flak/Carapace/Maniac/Unyielding.
Here’s the only teaser lore bit we have on Genestealers… they also tend to have a presence in every hive city like a virus of sorts., even had an outbreak on HOLY TERRA.
One that GW might not allow although Im sure there would be a way to work it in especially if the level was separate from the rest of the narrative. Idk what restrictions are in place here.
While thats true to a point, everyone works together to make sure various elements fit together. Also a completely new faction would come with new levels, unless we reuse old levels, which means pathing and the issue of both factions needing to meet or it wouldnt make sense.
Id rather they spent their time on new weapons, new enemies and new levels for the current faction.
If I am right, scab / dreg don’t exist in canon warhammer 40k.
So, I don’t think we will have Genestealers.
However, we have a fanatic cult and rebel troopers… what else could they had?
I think we could have a different cult… Khorne is, by example, what I would like… a “peaceful” cult, who can refuse that ?
Depend on what you mean by “exist in canon”.
Like are the Scab and Dreg are just some random world uprising, many worlds have something like that.
Many worlds have GSC uprisings, would they be simply adaptation of the models, probably not, but they could still base a faction on Genestealer, but then do what FS does best and build upon those factions.
So we have Nurglite Cult and somewhat Nurglite Traitor Regiment.
Ideally I’d want to see the Scab be reset as “Undivided”. Or “Undecided”, with them being puppets of the Dark Lord. Be’lakor
And alongside that reset, the 1st of the new factions would be released.
Each of the new factions would be “Local Group” turned to a Chaos God.
Tzeentchian Nomads
Based on Ash Waste Nomads for their appearance
Introduce Enthralled Civilians for the Groaners
Monsters are Mutants, beasts and/or Ambul
Doesn’t use Infested, but certain units having pseudo-Void Shields
Khornate Enforcer + Convicts
Based on the Palanite or Bad Zone Enforcers added to Corpse Grinder Gangs
Monsters like Santionner Automata
Doesn’t use Infested, but certain units having regen from dying nearby units
As for Slaanesh, I’m not sure what it should be, but should also happen.
As others have noted, it’s not a Mechanicus world and no mention of stuff like Titan legions being stationed there is mentioned. That said, the bigger issue with a Skitarii is that a Skitarii is a much more senior soldier than the Rejects in general are (on par with a Sister of Battle or Stormtrooper, above Zealots and Veterans), and would be unlikely to be dragged into the cells of the Inquisition in the same way as the other Rejects (especially without being taken apart). A Tech-thrall could fit, but a full on Skitarii would feel out of place.
Would love to see Genestealers, but given we’ve had a whole 2 new enemies in 2 years, I suspect a truly new set of enemies would be for Darktide 2.
I don’t think that’s going be particularly…fun. Unlike similar games like Helldivers or Deeprock, lines of sight, fields of fire, and avenues of movement are dramatically more restricted. It’s a game of corridors and hallways. There’s a lot of places where one person up front preventing fire from behind is going to get overwhelmed and prevent the team from dealing with the problem and result in the group getting overrun.
Yeah, teammates blocking each other’s gunfire in a PvE game like Darktide where many of the levels are intentionally made with tight passageways to be used as chokepoints doesn’t make sense. Especially when some of those teammates are as big as the Ogryn.
I can see how it would be especially frustrating for a Veteran, since they often rely heavily on ranged attacks.
