So... No hotfix(

Why?

Too much work. Small indie company, you understand. /s

They don’t feel like they need to hotfix any cosmetics because there’s nothing new in the shop.

Fatshark is behind - again - and they’re likely delaying the release of absolutely anything for the next week or so.

Expect more frustrating radio silence as they struggle to somehow squeeze out a blog post before they all take yet another month long vacation, including a “Oh, we’re so sorry, vacation happened” post as if somehow a nationally mandated holiday work break is something that sneaks up on you and every single one of your colleagues.

This meme is inaccurate. AFAIK the breaks aren’t nationally mandated, Fatshark chooses to spend two to four months of every year doing nothing.

Ahhh, I see. So they’re merely unable to schedule around their own plans.

As far as I can tell, it’s not that Fatshark does nothing over the summer and winter breaks, just way less than usual because whole swaths of the studio go on vacation, staggered throughout the holiday periods. Big parts of the class overhaul update were developed during July and August by the Combat team, but then e.g. the rest of the studio needs to provide their work for said update (VFX, UI, audio, etc.) to make it shippable, there’s more balancing to be done, yadda yadda, and that wasn’t until October.

Don’t get me wrong, their release schedule is hella slow, but the devs that are still in the office during the summer don’t sit on their hands.

You’ll forgive me for being more than a little skeptical considering one of the reasons we got given for the complete dearth of content or communication at the start of the year was ‘it’s only been a month since we got back from vacation, we couldn’t possibly tell you any of our plans or things in development’.

Like, maybe they’re not literally emptying out the studio, but from a player perspective, that’s effectively what happens to any hope of content and comms. And it doesn’t seem to give them any development progress during those months judging from their own statements and how slow they are for the rest of the year.

How many holidays they have? In my country its 1 week on new year holidays and 1 week on may. Rest of the time we work.

Employees in Sweden have at least 5 weeks (25 days) of vacation time per year.

guys, vacate away, though i could imagine worse jobs than working on darktide but greener grass/fence n all that.

and not that it matters for the objects in question, but WHAT was the hickup on reissued cosmetics ?!?

I think that’s because they generally don’t communicate about updates until they’re nearly finished and there isn’t anything nearly finished in the pipeline right after a summer/winter break. So Catfish had, at the start of the year, nothing to say.

We can all tell not whole lot is going on with development right now, I expect the itemization patch to be something the community will not have wanted and then you guys will go awol for 2 months sipping martinis.

You lost that goodwill last year, I don’t believe what you have to say anymore.

I don’t work for Fatshark.

They can’t really use this excuse anymore, cuz arrowhead is also Swedish and they don’t seem to have any issues.

Sorry, can’t help that this is how Fatshark operates.

Oh no arrowhead have definitely had issues with their patch pipeline

They’re slowing down because every patch they pushed out on a weekly brought more bugs and crashes than the last

And don’t get me started on alexus systematically ‘balancing’ the game into an unfun chore by ‘balancing’ anything fun and unique into something bland and mediocre. Which has taken the ceo stepping down into a creative position and a month of work to actually come up with the amazing idea of hmmm perhaps we should buff the things that are worthless rather nerf everything onto their level. And that patch is only the start (it’s a good start tho) there’s a lot more balancing that needs to be done to get the game to a significantly more fun and creative state.

But yeah no matter how slow arrowhead get it will never bet at the level of painful slowness and complete lack of communication of fatshark
