I am here… I launch it… see the starting screen, then do ALT+F4.
But my reasons are certainly different than yours. I don’t want to play with randoms that will rush or use OP weapons. I don’t say that I refuse to play in coop, i just say that I can’t play the game only in coop.
As a result… I don’t play it.
That and also a tendonitis that impacts me.
To be honest, the development direction seems wrong for me. No nerf, always buffs, havoc, mortis trial… I feel lost here, because nothing seems to aim at me. So I guess the message is “this game is no longer for you”.
I guess the problem is primarily… content.
We are bored because we play same game, same mechanic, same weapons, same missions for too much time…
I think a lot of people are feeling this way, another map or weapon wont really do much to change that. Hopefully Fatshark are working on a more major content update, a new Mechanicus Class or a new enemy faction.
To say it on the forum (as you mentioned it), I was also in the beta. I must say that the game is visually accurate and the Dune spirit is present.
The story is heavily changed (this is a “split fiction” of the Dune timeline).
Loved these parts: base building (I always like that), ambiance, Dune lore.
But melee combat is a big problem (and I took the melee class). Ranged weapons are good enough. But combat is not the best thing of this game…
I don’t feel the need to preorder it… but I might. The game is relaxing. I even think that worms are too easy to “dodge”.
Coriolis storms, on the contrary, come with a 1-minute warning and you can get caught pretty easily.
But I don’t think the game will be a flop. There are plenty of good things in it. At first, I thought it was a big no. After talking to you, it became a… I’ll get it on sale. Now, I wonder if I might just pick it up… because I have no other game to play. And that, it is fun to walk on Arrakis…
[Sidenote for forum members: the beta had no NDA… so if you’re interested, I am sure you can find plenty of videos showing the gameplay]
No evolution so far, nor in mechanics, nor in narration (Did we really know more about the story since beginnings ?) . The games feels going everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Weapons, game modes proposed are a very shy addition when you look at it. It’s a good game, but it seems hard to pretend it’s moving in an actual direction, right now. Hoping for something huge
