So are we going to talk about how busted revolver is or are we hoping nobody notices?

I don’t care about lore when it comes to game balance…basically at all.

Kickback both deals way too much damage and it’s way too spamable, even without a survivalist vet on the team. The Melee Ogryn build can do 500-600k ranged damage with it (depending on enemy density) which is just nuts. Ogryn is just a bonkers op as a class.

Well, i do. It is a 40k game, and weapons should behave as they do in that universe. And in-universe stubgun has 3 0 1 profile with pathetic range. Which means it dosen’t even wounds an unarmored ogryn 2/3 of the time it hits. But yeah, it comes with the upside of being generally easy to use in cqc.

It’s not just lore, it’s internal consistency and verisimilitude. Especially in a game with a setting like 40k with hilariously exaggerated sci-fi weapons and they’re being outperformed by a revolver. It’s unsatisfying for a lot of people.

Imagine if other games were balanced this way. Dragon Ball FighterZ would be really dull.

Darktide would have to have all pistols become tertiary sidearms that don’t take up the primary weapon slot. It makes no sense to take any handgun over the rifle variant if you can only take one.

If it appeased the lore purists, I’d be OK if the Revolver were aesthetically changed to a bolt pistol if it otherwise behaved the same way the revolver currently does.

I would also be fine with this tbh. Just change it into actual bolt/plasma pistol. With corresponding mechanics, visual sfx etc. So heat for plasma/explosive rounds for bolt.
But as it stands

Here’s a necromunda stubgun profile. Which is basically the revolver in question.
Give it more ammo. Like MUCH more ammo. Tune in damage a bit. Remove the shred blessing. Then it becomes an actual stubgun from 40k.

(btw, plasma and melta are only 2 commonly avaliable non-heavy (read heavy stubber sized) weapons in the book that are capable of one-tapping an ogryn)

It’s a fun weapon, there’s a lot of fun weapons, let we toy with pew pew revolver.

It’s strong but it’s not the easiest to use effectively (Hope they fall for this , guys, it’s my fav right now and I don’t want it nerfed)

For the record, I dont think the revolver needs nerfing (maybe its cleave? but i could care less). I just take issue with the surge staff. Its like the worst weapon in DT, it was before patch 13, it is now.

I regularly use the trauma, voidstrike, and purgatus (purg kinda meh) but i wont touch the surge. I want to be able to use it.

Trauma is just better CC and damage and the aiming you have to do is pretty braindead if im being honest. Hell you could aim it at your feet and do well.

I absolutely WRECK face with the revolver on my vet. I kinda wish i could do that with my vraks too though.

I’ve said it before, but if Revolver body shot damage is toned down but the total damage currently inflicted on headshots is untouched (meaning the headshot multiplier would need a big buff if total damage is reduced to keep headshots where they are currently), I’d be totally fine with that.

If Fatshark wants the revolver to be the de facto headhunter weapon in the game, I’m cool with that. But there should be one. The Infantry Lasguns and, ironically enough, Headhunter autoguns don’t reward the skill needed to use them.

Counter point, we’re not playing DBZ, we’re playing 40k and we’re all sick of 40k weapons always being out performed by normie weapons by massive margins.

+1 to this tho

It was one example. There are a ton of games based on established IPs. There is often a well-defined canon tier list where it would be totally impossible for one weapon/character to be even remotely on the same level as another. It generally makes for a boring game.

But like I said, it’s the functionality I care about. Reskin/animate/sound the revolver to be a boltpistol. I don’t care.

The revolver is basically a DMR right now. I also like that it rewards marksmanship. Unfortunately other weapons are not treated as equals, but no ones debating that.

What happened to the good ol’ mg12?

I dont want to talk about it. I really really miss the XII. I still have mine… waiting for their day again. Just have amazing rolls of every weapon so you insulate yourself from the buff/nerf cycle :stuck_out_tongue:

AKA the breakpoint avoider.

Believe me. I want to love the MGXII, I really do.

It’s a MG1a (not claiming it’s better than 12, i just like this version more) game, but still. Lasgun can preform.
I’m just frustrated that a literall lowtech toob from like 1800s outpreforms the iconic 40k weapon in it’s designated role.

Yup, medium is the best of the bunch. The problem is that it requires an insane amount of effort to get good damage out of it. I can take stuff that’s way easier to use and do as good or better. The complete inability for it to deal with carapace is not justified considering the difficulty in using it to its full potential. It can be less effective against carapace, sure, but it shouldn’t be taking 20+ headshots to down a crusher with max Marksman’s Focus stacks. It’s absurd.

Yeah, i feel ya.
Imo, part of the problem is in there not being enough weapons. Like, give us legis long las rifles for dmr/sniping. Give us plasma/bolt pistols. Give the zealot proper eviscerator with a flamethrower attached to it like the god-emperor wills it. Give us a melta for that yeetus-deletus button in case that crusher decides to bash my head in.
Let me play a 40k game, not a cod or rdr.

FFS yes. I’ve been asking for a sniper rifle since last year. There are plenty available in 40k for them to take from.

Till then I’ll take a pocket sniper.

look, when there are silent disabler and heavy enemies, having the revolver being good under very specific circumstances isn’t really a big deal lol if my teammates happens to one-shot a crusher that’s tip-toeing up behind me, i’m not gonna complain.
