Smoke Grenades should not obscure the vision of team mates

You get it. I wish people would talk about that, instead of whether they are good or not

smite, loyal protector, chorus, stealth… r u joking or what
doombringer, chem nades especially pre nerf

smoke nades at least are humble and you need to know how to use them in term of positioning and when to use them

None of these examples disrupt other players gameplay like smokes do, so no, I’m not joking.

Pre-nerf chem nades don’t count. Because they are nerfed.

since i step out of the smoke cloud the moment it pops up i aint disrupted by the nade itself.

rather by the “cosplayer” staying in it while i killed everything there was in the meantime and him lagging behind with no situational awareness whatsoever :man_shrugging:

usually i dont stop for him if he doesnt get his wits together in the next 10 seconds, leading to a somewhat disgruntled pickup sometimes 5 rooms ahead.

still “better” in my book than to reward this kind of behavior by wrongfully playing along without urgency to do so.

a faint hope that the dude then spectating gets a glimpse of “what could be”

(had a prime example of a smyker today in a chilled auric event match, always behind, down multiple times, missed not even once)

ye ur trolling then

they are still good…

I’m gonna be honest here, I have no idea what you are talking about

Resorting to “ur trolling” because you don’t understand or share my view? Yeah. Good talk

As I said before, a nade that blocks teammates’ vision isn’t useful at all, at the very least, you need some kind of buff to make your teammates willing to stay inside it.
In fact, just a few days ago, I heard teammates complaining about this major flaw with the smoke over voice chat in havoc.
(Don’t bring up something like mods with me, not everyone likes to cheat.)

ignoring the dude with the smoke nade and keeping on whackin for the emprah, simple enough for ogryn to do sah.

puny vet wont keep up, puny vet gets fed to heretics if need be.

no ones forced to stand around for the smoke grenade to do its thing, move forward, kill stuff, finish the match faster :man_shrugging:

Ah right, I get you now.

But that’s the whole problem I have with it. I don’t care if they stand in their smoke and be useless, problem is they can drag others with them. Example (that really happened), they can throw a smoke behind the team in one of those narrow trenches in No Man’s Land. Then, while the team is shooting and killing stuff in front of them, a few ragers can sneak up from behind and whack the Psyker. Without the smoke, they would have been seen and dealt with.

And you can’t sidestep that smoke either, because there is no space in this small trench. And this is what I mean with smokes disrupting gameplay for others in the team, negatively.

edit: Think I replied this post to you now? But it doesn’t show. Don’t get this forum

What is the Smite thing people do not like? Is that the purple lightning thing that stuns all the enemies? I don’t play Psyker but I love it when players have that.

Yeah. I don’t have that big of a problem with it, but I can see why people don’t like it. It trivializes the game at times, because you just fight mannequins that don’t hit back. Also most melee classes WANT the enemies to come to them, so they group up and they can hit multiple at a time.

In a way, it also disrupts other people’s gameplay. But I think it’s different, because it can be more of a nuance instead of it creating dangerous situations like smoke grenades can.

edit: Why does this forum sometimes makes a normal reply instead of replying to the person I’m replying to.. it’s annoying, I pressed the right button and it even says I’m replying to the person in the textbox (I totally said the word reply too often in this edit)

I held off on using smokes for ages. Then I was just doing the event in Aurics. Was doing a devil claw helbore combo to break it up from always using plasma gun. Mostly left side of the tree. Devil claw is really good on hordes… helbore is one shotting crushers and heavies. Max height veteran I can snip crushers in the head over their shields… didn’t feel I needed shredders or kraks but because I was camping and highlighting enemies I tried using smokes for the first time and it was useful. Seeing gunners run out of cover towards me to try and get on the other side of the smoke. They are finicky but if you have crowd control and heavies handled by your melee and ranged weapons I don’t think they’re that bad.

First: I agree.

Second: I try to make a “Cadian medic” build… that means laser and smoke… So For Crushers… I mostly run and knife them in the head.

The vision obscuring effect should be removed, period. I hate how transparent smoke mod is pretty much mandatory if you want to play Havoc because a lot of redditors chuck smokes left and right, thinking “they’re protecting the team”, when in reality it makes fending off specials even more frustrating, because you can’t see them in addition to broken audio.

Also they need some utility besides the current protection against ranged that works half of the time. Smoke should clear hazards (fire and gas), as well as affect melee enemies in some way… Maybe reduce their attack speed and tracking, like Nuncio does.

I do the same, but they could really extend the outlines for the allies to match your own duration. It’s a bit annoying that they only get it for a few seconds, especially because you’re spending one of your precious talent points to that end.

Or maybe have their extentions last only half of yours. That’d still be a massive improvement

I have the ability that extends the outlines when I kill a special. Does that not keep it up for my team mates too? I always thought it did.

I’m not a “redditor” but I do use smokes, and they definately do protect the team.

I think having invisible smokes would just be silly because then how would it logically make sense while still functioning as intended? If the smoke is invisible everything could then see you lol

Same logic as standing on top of the flame grenade or frag bomb not having friendly fire. Making smoke semi-transparent would just make coping with smoke griefers managable.
