The smoke is really good in high levels specifically, like many abilities and in low difficulties there simply isn’t enough enemies for it to be effective against.
What I don’t like is that without Grenade Tinkerer, you only get 15 seconds duration while with it you get 30. I wish you’d get at least 20 base, that would make it way better without the upgrade and would make a decent grenade to pick if you don’t want to invest multiple points just for the grenade.
Normal spot maybe but it would be very overkill with Focus Target! considering it can refill a ton of thoughness for the whole team on kill.
However it could get another additional buff from Grenade Tinkerer in some way. What I thought would actually make sense is a reduction of stagger immunity to all enemies inside like Ragers and Maulers like to have. That way the grenade could be useful for waves of Ragers so you can stagger them easier and it would make sense because they don’t see it coming when you smack them in the face with your weapon.
Most smoke grenade lover probably use mod that make smoke stick to the ground or just remove it entirely I guess. Since I hardly see anyone mention that downside.
It would be nice to see more people take it instead of krak. Normal highlighting would still be an improvement, but keystone synergy would really benefit. Maybe 50% less toughness from those tagging, but it would be super nice to see it have more utility.
Why on Earth would you need to buff what is arguably the strongest blitz in the game? The only one that comes even close to the level of impact smonks have on a game is smite, which is just disgusting in its own right.
Well, they could buff them to be even more transparent. They’re still markedly worse at obscuring things than even psyker bubbles are. But yeah, power buffs for smokes is a fairly ridiculous conversation as things stand.
Yeah smoke grenades just are in a weird spot where outside of Havoc they’re kind of useless while in Havoc they are insanely good.
Buffing the ranged enemies would be a good idea for Auric, however I would only buff them slightly. Otherwise Auric could easily feel like Havoc and it should not be as sweaty.
I mean, that’s kind of the point of a smoke grenade to block vision. It’s already pretty generously how good you can see through it. Any further reduction would completely break the immersion.
There’s plenty of use cases for it that make any strike team’s jobs easier:
disrupting shooter/gunner sightlines
making trappers and flamers have to engage closer in order to disrupt players
making poxhounds not capable of locking onto players with their leap while in smoked area
And all of these safety nets last up to 30 seconds, provided you don’t leave the smoked area; and then there’s the potential of making space for people to advance to - by throwing a remote / forward smoke - is also quite convenient.
It sounds disruptive experience-wise.
It sounds disruptive experience-wise further still.
what “hurts” the pace is people lacking fundamentals and basic skills of the game, not one item being used or misued.
until havoc 40 whos waiting around in a bubble or smoke plume when at the same time the whole screen can be cleared by yourself?
if someone loses sight of the imminent encounter due to smoke, its his lack of perception and planning, not the need to light up the screen like a disco ball for the “determinationally challenged” and pollute the fov with even more useless clutter.
either be ahead of the vet and step out of the smoke if it bothers you or at least keep track of where the handful of rager/mauler were a second ago
all this does is avoid learning crucial skills further on instead of getting them hammered in by pain and failure thus being a more useful reject in difficulties where it counts, it allows sloppier players to go further than they deserve and wonder why
a) everyone hates their guts in mid to high havocs
b) no one waits around in auric/maelstrom for their oh-so tactical approach.
you wanna be a “synergizing” vet? shout yellow and throw kraks.
you want mates get less ranged-rpe in hav40? learn how to place yourself and deploy the smoke in a useful spot instead of wanting a
Or there could be a better build with smoke grenades, as suggested.
Yeah, highlighted enemies is never useless. It’s literally part of the Veteran’s kit.
Coming from the guy who wants to reverse the game back to release, I’m going to guess that any improvement is anathema to you. Also, you seem pretty negative about your fellow players.
