Small Audio PSA

Just a quick one-liner really; try and turn up the bass a bit on your audio and you’ll likely find that Crushers and Bulwarks are more easily heard approaching.

Their approach is very much in the lower frequency regions, so if you’ve got less expensive audio gear a bass boost may help. Downside ofc is that all the explosions will take over, but hey ho. Recent discovery with new audio gear.

What I wouldn’t give for Hunt: Showdown’s sound design in Darktide.

Maybe a lot less going on in Hunt:Showdown though mate
But yes, that game is tense to the extreme.

Could you imagine that level of quality and polish though?

Being able to tell exactly what door any special is coming through just by sound alone? Sounds not randomly disappearing? Crushers not needing to be base-boosted as described above?

If only…

But then again, at least Darktide doesn’t take 5 steps backwards every time they update their UI/UX

So…pros and cons I guess

i think v2 sound scape was just about perfect. i think DT just has too much going on the sound engine just doesn’t appear to be able to cope

Hunt is a game with very few sources of sound at any moment, Darktide can technically have 100+ all round you.

True, but that hasn’t stopped other shooters with similar quantities of audio sources from being…less than stellar.

At least there should be some changes to their audio engine coming up. Hopefully it fixes more than it breaks.
