Shovel + Kickback

So after getting some stuff done for the Vet (Cap) and the Zealot (Eyepatch) i thought its time for the Ogryn.

I tried the new Gorgonum Stubber. Nive one, but somehow as an old Rumbler guy i wanted something new.
iirc the Kickback wasn’t that good a year ago, but i tried it again and huh, this thing is really fun and viable now as it seems.
Did it got a buff?
Range s good kill potential on Heresy is good.
I dont have the best Blessings on it, but ok, maybe im lucky in the next days.

Shovels
I saw some new Shovels and tried them in the end i like the XIX the most because of Swith mode and what a switched heavy can do to a Rager ^^

I havent played Damnation with this setup, but i think with some better blessings and work its’s usefull.

I was a Bull Cleaver MK3 Rumbler Ogryn befor, but i also liked the Power maul.
But Kickback and Shovel seem to be as viable as the above.

Thoughts? Tips?

Yes.

You can heavily rely on kickback, because it is straight up broken.
Enjoy.

On heresy you should be able to 1 tap pretty much every enemy smaller than an ogryn.
Or multiple of them at the same time if they stand behind each other.

You can quite easily outperform pretty much anyone using the entire arsenal of their class, simply by kickbacking every enemy that gets in front of your plus sized barrel.

I think it’s all runnable. I would steer away from Power Maul til it gets a buff and I personally don’t like MK2 club that much. Besides that, I run literally every other weapon, melee and ranged, in Auric T5 Maelstrom and they all work. Just make sure you have an option to kill armor when it shows up and remember your most reliable toughness gain is from the “Get 25% toughness back on single / multi heavy” nodes in the top left of the skilltree, even on Gungryn.

To add to that, ranged weapon melee attacks all count as heavy attacks still.

good to know and all thanks for replies.

There is not alternative cosmetic for shovels right?
Not even the fire waste camo?!?

I’m a little iffy on skins since the base game has like 2 and the rest are paid but that sounds right; There aren’t any shovel camo skins. I do know there’s some premium cosmetics that rotate around with different shovel skins that people like but, again, out of my wheelhouse :stuck_out_tongue:

We got the krieg skin.

And you could use the weapon customization mod to turn your shovel into an oversized combat axe or something (not sure how that would look with the shovels with weapon special).

i too prefer the XIX variant of the shovel due to its faster horizontal light attacks akin to the bull butcher.

got lucky on two rolls so far, as for the talents i´d suggest

heavy hitter
just getting started
brutish momentum

bottom left tree

plus “hard knocks” at the very middle.

usually i build my 5 stacks, keep them with light attacks when fighting a horde and shove them from time to time to add hard knocks with 20 stacks.

as soon as a crusher or mauler pops up i fold the shovel and go ham.

as for the kickback i got lucky with 25% maniac and flak, plus while it might be a placebo i swear by full bore and run and gun.

this!

Consensus seems to be that the shovels are a bit overtuned (the activation is akin to a strong power weapon), and the kickback, while recently nerfed again, is a very strong choice.
Part of that is because Fatshart considers Reserve Ammo instead of total ammo for replenishment and talents, so if you have the +25% ammo talent and a veteran with ammo aura on the team, you have 59 rounds or so and get ~0.6 back for every Elite and Special your team kills. It is actually rather hard to run out.

Kickback is OP, abuse while you still can.

Club3 with thunder bleed is broken, abuse the interaction while you still can.

Kickback is “good” now because its minimum pellet hit count is 12. Used to be 16, but it was absolutely busted when it was that.

For those not in the know min pellet count means even if you hit something’s pinky toe at 500 meters away it will count as if you hit them with 12 pellets from your oversized flak cannon.

Still subject to fall off, but you can still 2 shot snipers across the entire map, and you will mist entire hordes with a few shots.

Kills disablers basically for free with no aim needed which is probably the only issue I have with it.

Has excellent ammo economy, and is the best general use weapon for ogryn.

Shovels are insane as well, and still haven’t been hit by a balance patch.

Enjoy the shovels as they are because it’s going to be a while before there are any new patches since FS is going on holiday.

Tried the 3b Club, is fun, but actually the xix shovel please me more, but handling is roughly the same Like most good melee weapons with what you can cleave hordes with lights and use heavy for Rager and Reaper etc.

My meta is allways fun based, because what is moat fun is what you get good at easily while weapons that are maybe better mechanically but leas fun to use are not. Just personal preference and opinion, can opener or gauntlet are for sure very good, but for me less fun to use for example.

I tried that blood thing with 3b, i may come back to it , seems Ogryn has a lot of viable setups i may also try gunlugger with Gorgonum again.

The biggedt Problem ist all classes are fun and the new stuff from october i’m Just started trying seem to be all made well.
Psykers new Sith Lord ability is also fun to use, but psyker i need to Look at new abilities and weapons + viable loadouts later.

Holidays are Welcome for another 100’s of hours :hugs:

I am talking about bleed applying thunderous, while thunderous buffing bleed dmg in return. You can pull over 3k DPS on crushers after bleed charging em with a thunder + skullcrusher club3.

Pulverise applies 5 stacks to anything you charge, and applies another 5 on AoE when you stop. Even carapace is gonna be bleeding for over 200 ticks, while being completely softened up for your “hordeclear” version of the club.

With a club3 kickback FNP setup, my dmg is 20-25% bleed, it’s absurd.

What a switched hevy can do to any enemy :grimacing:
There is no bad weapon in the ogryn arsenal, the only weapon I consider sub par is the the cleaver MkVI, becouse of his movest, but still perfectly viable, just an inferior option to the other cleavers.
Same for ranged, the Stubber MkV feels the loser in the trio. (you may want to check the Stubber MkVII it got nice buffs too)

For talents, execpt of the ability and +25% ammo reserve all the gunlugger tree is basically trash and should be avoided.
But all the others are quite good (even if for me the only keystone is heavy hitter)
