Unpopular opinion, but Fatshark have the
Arrowhead problem; both studios are too small to hammer on with both balance patches and content patches.
I’m going to be really honest with everyone and I have never thought that crafting added anything to my Darktide experience.
We old heads played Doom, Blood, Quake, Rainbow Six, UT and etc. for hundreds to thousands of hours and never did we ever talk about “balance” (except for Oddjob who is perma banned in Golden Eye 64).
I mean we didn’t even have MMR or ELO so you could get spawn camped endlessly if you got into a match with a no lifer. It only tasted that much sweeter when you finally got the karker!
A rocket launcher is stronger than a pistol. Makes sense. You don’t need more balancing than that!
To make these complex systems with blessings, perks, marks, swing patterns, armor types have just gotten bad in both Helldivers 2 and Darktide.
The studios are just to small to do such complex system and it would have been so much better if they could just make a smaller selection of weapons while making each weapon have a niche.
Remove perks and blessing and just have Flamer be Flamer, Dual Stub’s be Dual Stub’s and etc.
They should just have never done the whole billion marks and variations and instead put the cool WH40k weapons in the game (maybe 5 melee weapons and 5 ranged weapons per class), have them all fill a niche and called it a day.
This endless chase for balance is just insanity.
GSG found the perfect formula with DRG and hopefully with Rogue Core too.
