Title basically. Bone Saw is a great fun and dynamic weapon that’s strong but Shiv outperforms it by quite a lot imo. Similiar situation to before Dueling Sword was made available to the other classes Knife was the supreme ruler over all the other melee (unless you were psyker).
Crowbar is nice but the special mode is still not up to par with it’s normal. The time it takes to swap to special and hit something is too long for the little value it gives. I thought the crowbar special would basically be an updated, more fleshed out version of the chain weapon special but I think it still falls flat for similiar reasons.
Shivs are fun as hell though I’m basically cranking my crackhead knife zealot build up to 11.
Im glad people are liking it. I still dont know what to think..
The luster of 40k is always Bombastic Bolters or Thundering Hammers. Pokey-stabby-things just doesn’t have the weight or lure to me for something 40k. It was fine for me in Vermintide.. i guess its the design of them on launch…plus slashing at 40+ enemies on screen with 2 screwdrivers.. eughh my sense of disbelief has thinned to wet parchment …
Yeah, when you boost attack speed, especially with three +3 stamina curious, speed stim, middle or right keystone and rampage ultimate, they turn into blender. I clutched out against armor with such build+chem blinder while being cornered. Doubt that will work in havoc, but for slicing and dicing aurics it’s great.
They also no worse fit for stimm crate ultimate, I just run auric event with them+ speed stimm + toughness nodes to reach 100% viscosity and 2 toughness curious, most of time I had my stimm recharged faster than ability even without chem grenades and with them, nearly instant recharge. Maybe it’s not so bad that dependency not working with stimm crate, because attack speed from middle keystone is important.
And I didn’t like shivs at 1st at all. Still think cleave mk is worse, due to worse single target damage.
Crowbar not bad, but like you said, it really is better without alt attack pattern absolute majority of time.
Bone saw very slow, it highly needs both cleave and attack speed.
Rampage is built around the shivs and desperado the uzis. Though there are some other slappy fast weapons with crazy attack speed benefitting the giant melee power buffs like taxes. The tactical axe also has the stagger power you’re missing in general combat. But you can pretty much just run around with shivs thanks to the special. The Zealot strat of using them to chip elites and refund knives mid combat goes really hard. The slashy ones are very flashy. I’d like them more if those 2 stabs after the push attack could loop back to the heavy stab though. But it goes pretty hard already and I’m just comparing it to the stabby ones that are generally better.
Nice, I tried the shivs at first and wrote them off as garbage. I’ll have to give it another go. Any idea how shivs with Coated Weaponry and Sample Collector fare for Stim CD reduction through Chem?
Shiv is 2 weapons in one as it gives you 3 throws as well that replenish on elite/special melee kill, the throw attack also applies tox chem dot. Currently the best option for Hive Scum imo.
Crowbar should do more damage in singletarget mode, but is otherwise fine.
Bone Saw is supposed to be a wide swing weapon to dot everything up, even has the corresponding blessings availble, but it’s attack pattern is just bad and struggles against elites.
Push attack > heavy (repeat or) >light > heavy gives you a lot of wide attacking chem spread and the double hit of the second H attack when you have the +60% damage on weak spot to toxined targets is pretty good at wiping out elites. not S tier but very workable
Yeah I was very excited by the bone saw but when I tried it the attack patterns feel horrible and clumsy. It behaves really strange and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
The animation and arc between strikedowns and wide strikes is barely noticeable too so it’s hard to chain if you’re in the thick of it.
MK2 needle pistols “blue” mode melts even mixxed hordes, while “yellow” melts single targets. I really like it, and it also refills your stim quick (Sample Collector), with Pickpocket you ahve virtually unlimited ammo.
