ive definitely had issues with buffering key commands , think they have fixed some specific examples there was one on the ogryn that was really bad not being able to aim on weapon swap or something i cant remember exactly.
i think ive had a server crash maybe 2 in my 280 hours but i dont recall it being busy at the time /shrug
but the common issue with weapon swaps not going through seem more likely to be how the engine deals with buffering than a server issue id think?
im no expert here just as you say lot of time playing these games, id expect non qued inputs like movement to also get dropped if it is a server issue and i havent experienced that i just get que issues.
client side hits not being registered server side i havent experienced
its been an absolute rock solid experience on that front im on an old i7 6700k and 1080 still (keep putting that upgrade off for the next release and price drop ) im getting 70 fps dropping to 40 in those big spawns, maybe that comes in at higher fps when more prediction is nescessary , whats the tick rate on the server around 60 at a guess?
I agree with this. I’ve started to notice that most of my game crashes are during horde spawns or entering a new map area on Heresy. Occasionally, this also happens on Malice whenever the game decides to spawn a squad of gunners, 2 reapers, 2 bombers, and a flamer just seconds after a horde wave.
It’s 100% the servers just shitting themselves regularly on Malice High-int. , or any Heresy or Damnation missions.
I don’t know how many games are being handled simultaneously by one server, but it’s probably too many for their processing power. That’s what penny-pinching and bad netcode gets you !
We managed to crash a server (?) last night about 80% through a Damnation High-Intensity. Horde + Beast of Nurgle + 3 flamers at once, about 3 rooms away from the final room: Game got chunky, mobs started to stand still in place, then everyone crashed to desktop, no option to reconnect. Seems obvious the server was overwhelmed.
Weird one that keeps hitting me is my block input getting extended. I keep getting locked into blocking after a push attack or just a shove. Happens about 3/4 times a mission, usually middle of a horde. More often during high intensity, which makes me think OP is correct.
It also happens with staying stuck in charging up a heavy attack only being released once it’s full charged or another input is made like single click for light attacks.
Now I noticed this problem thoroughly. When online dropped to 4k, now some generally unimaginable things are happening on high difficulties.
Let’s say a horde appears and… Change weapons quickly? Nah, stay with your staff/sword/rifle… Use the “F” ability quickly? Nope, press 2 more times. Shoot from a staff? Nah, charge it one more time or two.
If earlier I really SOMETIMES noticed such things or similar to them, like the fact that you do not register a hit on the target, now … Well, this is already out of the way.
It feels like I’m back in Vermintide 2 and connected to a person who downloads porn, plays the game and hosts the server. Just WOW…
So far, I’m coping with all this hell, but I notice that at least 2 players from a random team are not. They fall and can’t do ANYTHING, because it doesn’t even depend on them anymore.
And this problem is getting worse and worse every day.
I’ve just had the most horrible experience on Heresy yet.
horrible rubberbanding, for both players and enemies. I hit a Trapper twice in the head with no reaction, only for him to teleport to the spot he was in 1 second ago
got tackled to the ground by an invisible dog
anytime anything spawned in, I couldn’t push, couldn’t switch weapons, maybe only after trying 5 successive times
If the Community Updates don’t say anything about these server issues, I will leave this game alone and never come back.
Yeah the servers are just getting worse and worse. The insane lag and rubberbanding, and inability to charge weapons or change weapons, is spreading far and wide. What used to be a high intensity problem is now just completely the norm.
I’m almost finished leveling my Vet and the terrible hit registration is kicking my ass. On paper the semi-auto Vreks gun is good and precise, but the hitreg makes me feel like every enemy takes one more bullet than it ought to.
I’d rather lock gunners into melee with my Power Sword than shoot them three times and watch my hit markers do nothing.
On top of everything OP has listed the feeling of frames per second seems tied to how well the server is performing, when the server is melting down and I still have above 75fps the game feels like its running at 20fps, its terrible, maybe its tied to tickrate or something? whatever it is shouldn’t be happening.
There’s also stutters and lag when a new player joins.
All the server related issues seem worse on certain maps too eg- Hourglass (forward and reverse version)from start to finish is much worse than most maps.
The terrible server performance is getting out of hand lately. It’s basically unplayable on difficulty 4 or 5, especially on high intensity. Game runs so bad and the latency is so strong it’s basically like trying to swim in cement, in slow motion, against a strong current.
