Secret Hard mode is encouraging griefing..... needs its own queue

No I don’t want to do hard mode.

‘You have been kicked’

Someone rage quits cuz you aren’t doing hard mode, ok.

Someone else joins mid mission that obv wants to do hard mode as they just jump off a ledge and rage quit.

No I don’t want to do hard mode I say in lobby - LOLLLL GO PLAY SEDITION NOOB

Subpar implementation of hard mode imo, make it its own queue.

I kinda agree.

For both groups, it is annoying.

Those who’re trying to finish a straight Damnation run, are being repeatedly abandoned, or dragged into Hardmode against their will.

People who want to do Hardmode are repeatedly thrust into groups that: a) have no idea what hardmode is. b) are entirely unprepared, but agree anyway. or c) don’t want to do it at all.

This creates needless frustration, when the simple solution was right there: after completing a Damnation run, Hardmode is unlocked for you on the “Special Assignment screen”, and has its own queue.

Most of my time spent trying to PUG this ends with me leaving the game at the start, going to the load screen, queuing it again, another loading screen and if I’m lucky in this chain of events people will say yes or no to the hard mode bell. Sometimes people don’t even give a straight answer so I have to leave anyway rather than waste my time. It needs a separate queue, anyone who tells you otherwise would’ve ratio’d the idea of an Undo button if you let them. In my opinion this is really why it is so prohibitively difficult in pubs, like many other aspects of the gameplay on the mourningstar you need RNG to even get a correct group of people, another layer of RNG on the elite spawns in the actual fight, RNG on whether they’ll even bring a proper build or accept a re-queue.

I queued into a perfect team and we won, so although I don’t care anymore I still think a separate queue is extremely important. The game should natively support queuing for stuff like this.

I suppose people could use the LFG channels on the official discord, might make things a bit easier and stop everyone from ending up wasting each others time.

Wait.
They added even more difficulty differentiators at the top with poorly described differences?
Edit: Ok, looked it up. Guess it’s just a single map. I can live with that. I haven’t played it yet anyways.

So your solution to the ingame problem, created by Fatsharks decision to add a secret puzzle in the mode itself is for… “People to use the discord lfg”.

Thats the solution to the problem is it? Did you just fix it then, did you? Because I’m not sure “people” listened to you, bud.

The hard mode isn’t encouraging it, the players are.

IMO, Griefing is something nobody but the griefers themselves can control. Maybe that’s why they grief…

Would a queue for an interactive in the game even been possible?

I am trying to offer up a semblance of a solution, is it the best solution? Maybe, maybe not, but considering the circumstances its probably better than most of the options that are currently available.

You can decide for yourself what you want to do of course, but lets look at the alternatives:

  1. You can choose to just not do hardmode.

  2. You can wait to see if Fatshark is willing to make changes, something which i think might take a while since we are getting close to that time of year where they go on break.

  3. You can waste your own time by joining and quitting in and out of groups, while dealing with the loading time, until you find a group that wants to do it, and the group you joined might not want to continue trying to kill the boss after the first wipe.
So then the whole process starts again.

  4. Or, you can make the most out of an unfortunate situation, spend a bit of time to use the LFG to see if you can not only find a group that wants to do Hardmode, but is also willing to give it several tries in case the first try fails.

  5. Or if you want to just do normal mode to see what thats like, you can probably find a group for that as well.

Well done!

Now lets consider the discussion itself. The mode is encouraging griefing…

You see Sioux, I don’t need you to state the obvious to me, nor does anyone else here. Coming in here and stating the obvious does not, infact, solve anything at all.

But thanks!

I just wanted to play the normal difficulty with randos and beat it.

But most of my time was spent in loading screens, lobbies or the mission up to the first fight with the sister before I was left with two or three bots.

I finally beat it (normal damn) earlier. No desire to replay this on normal or hard due to no separate queue.

I suppose you just wanna sit here and be pissy about it instead then.

I can see how that can be frustrating yes.

No, as I said in my first post in this topic, I think this causes frustration for both parties involved. I think there should be a seperate queue.

On topic, used my noggin, avoided stating the obvious ;D

Ofc you and me know there is an LFG channel.

But now that the game has seen an influx of new players there might be a decent chunk of the player base that does not know about it, the info in my post is basically aimed at them and not for the old heads on the forum.

There should just be 2 different queues. One for regular mode, on whatever difficulty you pick. One for hard mode damnation only, and it only unlocks after finishing the map on heresy.

I also really don’t like this new trend of people telling the other group that they need to go on discord and make their own lobby. You want to play the mission normally? Go make your own group. Want to do bells? Go make your own group. Yeesh. Most players just use quick play you know.

I can’t even get anyone to explain what “secret hard mode” is. I see and hear a lot of people saying it, but they can’t tell me what it is.

You can take a look at this unless you want to try and figure out the puzzle yourself.

Basically, there are a bunch of bells hidden in the mission. You need to ring each bell a certain number of times. If done right, it makes a sound. When you do all the bells it activates “secret hard mode” and makes the encounter much more difficult by buffing the bosses, spawning more enemies, etc.

Funnily enough that’s very easy to avoid. You just watch as someone hits the bell required number of times and then hit it again. Here you go, you ruined the combination and hardmode won’t enable because there is no way to reset the bells.

I highly dislike that you have to do a dumb “puzzle” to turn on hard mode…why didn’t they just put another option to queue for hardmode?
