We have all heard the rumor from Morrow not to talk about the second city.
With that being said, and Morrow’s scowl of disproval, Let us begin
- Here is my take on what a sister city could look like if introduced to Darktide.
The Sister City -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sister Hestia has received word from Swagger that disturbing new Heretic Idols and Relics have been discovered in the sister city. We must dispatch a special unit to the city to investigate. The sister has been given permission by the Inquisitor to call upon the Sisterhood to provide aid in restoring the faith, or spiritual corruption, to the city and the world of Atoma.
What are these Relics? They must be recovered!
New Playable Hero ------------------------------------------- Adepta Sororitas
The Sisterhood responds to Hestia with the tools necessary to quell this evil festering in Atoma Prime. A small group of Novice Soroitas have been sent to purge the city. Once successful they can then take their final vows and become accepted as a Sister. The Novice have failed in their first teachings and have been given a second chance.
What the characters failings are can be chosen during character creation.
Enemies ------------------------------------------------------------- New Faction
AELDARI
The strands of time have been observed. The Aeldari will soon arrive on Tertium. They have been fated to intervein. Although they are a dying race, the hidden relics buried are at risk falling to chaos. The Farseer’s have dispatched forces to combat anyone who ventures near to prevent an even greater calamity.
****Tie a connection to Swagger, a Harlequin, a Farseer or introduce a new character to represent the Eldar. They would be our enemies.
Mobs/Trash/Chaff
A Cult, worshipping eldar gods in the SIster City and influenced by harlequins for centuries, is there to protect the relics.
The trash mobs would be humans. A reskin. I’m not sure if possessed would be the correct word, but they would mimic the colors and clothing of the respective Aeldari faction that is introduced.
Elites 1,2
Gaurdian Defenders
Battleline Ranged/Melee Support organizing the Mon’Keigh to attack us.
Grav Platforms
Support weapons platforms that can fire from distance. These units can appear in small numbers during a “horde encounter”.
Specialists 1,2,3,4,5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fire Dragon - Flame Specialist
The fire attack can be a left to right sweep instead of a straight line. But in general, a copy paste flamethrower special.
Dark Reaper - Sniper Specialist
Identical to the sniper we already have but instead shoots a rocket launcher that hits multiple teammates. Also teleporting to a new location after each shot.
Shadow Seer - Support Specialist
Replacing the grenade special slot and provide a buff to nearby troops. Their ability would be the Fog of Dreams - creating a mist that would make it difficult to see at long range. The mist wouldn’t be a physical manifestation on the battlefield but in the minds of our players.
Howling Banshee - Melee Disabler
Much like a pox hound, the Howling banshee will warcry upon spawning. Running in stealth to its target before pouncing and preforming a sync animation requiring a teammate to save the immobilized player.
Warp Spider - Melee Disabler
A traditional hunter from the genre. The warpcloud it creates from the sky to pounce on those who forget to look up. Small arms fire on its sides prevent the team from pushing this unit off, requiring the team to remove it from range.
What separates these units from other Darkside’s specials is their ability to fight and retreat.
Much like the Karnak Twins, specials will teleport to safety once they receive critical damage. This will pose them as a single threat throughout the mission and also nod to the survivability of the Eldar race. Specails can adopt a unique personality when fighting Rejects. If the Rejects find a way to deliver a mortal blow a death animation occurs triggering a unique Vox threat from the Eldar, permanently removing the special from combat for the mission.
Boss 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wraithblades
The melee kind, of course. Try not to die.
*****For the enemy section above I pulled directly form the 10th edition army list, but would love any ideas or input on how what can work. I’m not too familiar with eldar lore; I’m not sure if these units can even mesh together with their respective gods and such.
Thanks for taking time to read! Food for thought!
Think the AELDARI can work in a tides game?
