No, for solo mode to happen they need to flip the switch on private lobbies to “allow one player to start the match.”
None of us are asking for updated bot ai, we just want to launch a mission without 3 random players who will make the game less fun for us.
Genuinely, I had more fun with MMT and 3 of the current bots than I did in any match with real players.

Rather than an ironclad promise to implement this feature this seems like a pretty clear promise to determine the feasibility of it. They were not happy with the feasibility of it back then and they are, evidently, still not happy with it today.
Sure, Vermintide had it, but it didn’t cost them anything in either Vermintide; you hosted your own instance. In Darktide, you occupy server space, time, and energy. Spinning up a whole on-line instance just for one player is a bit silly as it is against the purpose of having servers in the first place.
So, that means, in all likelihood, the checklist for enabling solo play goes:
And that is rather a lot of work for something that is not a priority. Maybe they’ll keep working on it in the background and it’ll just drop one day like Versus, but in the mean-time they have the standard laundry list of balancing and bug-fixes, the PS port, and actual content that they should be focusing on before that.

Edit, keep in mind that the “a patch shortly after that in December” is referring to December 2022. Which is almost 2 years ago.
It might just be they don’t think many people would bother to use it?

Fair enough, but she even discusses the same technical difficulties that I mentioned right there. It seems pretty clear that reality did not measure up to that very optimistic prognosis and rather than the patch that December we unfortunately got the update that I posted that December. Less than a month later and now almost two years ago. That’s plenty of time for everyone to get caught up.
As I said, hopefully it does drop someday ( I myself would very much like for the game to have both server and P2P modes, solo or otherwise) but it very much is not a priority for their co-op game.
Which is completely understandable. But when it’s been 2 years and it’s gone from “almost ready” to your link of “it could be released now, but we’re not happy with it and are going to keep working on it.” to literally radio silence aside from a few replies in threads like this and DMs of “not a priority”. I’m going to have questions.
Plus, since it was “yes. You will be able to play the game solo.” and not “you might be able to play the game solo.” they have a responsibility to either fess up that that was a lie, or add it to the game. They’re taking the “if I don’t acknowledge it, maybe they’ll forget” stance and I’m going to keep being a thorn in their side to remind them (and others) that it was a promise.
I even gave Catfish the call to action, make a single public announcement that Solo Mode is not coming and I’ll accept it and leave them alone. Lol.

Bots in Darktide are not even 10% as resilient as bots in Space Marine 2. It also seems totally impossible for bots to permanently die in SM2. If both bots go down, it seems like one of them will just get back up without any player intervention.
I will believe you. I have no intention to play SM2, it looks that it is not a game for me. And 2025 there will be vampire bloodlines 2 and Dune awakening… so I don’t think I will even try SM2…
But believe me that the stamina for bots is incredible. They can block a long time a demon host. I have been able to kill a demon host several times in solo (yes they are so bad that, yes, they can aggro DH too often 
)
This is why I keep adding the Solo Mode threads to the Book.
Fatshark has a simple responsibility to not lie to our faces. If they acknowledged that they screwed up and that Solo Mode was cancelled, this wouldn’t be a problem.
But they keep acting on toddler logic where ignoring the thing makes it not real.
Honestly I’ve found on the hardest difficulty sm2 easier with bots because they’re practically invincible and take a fair bit of the agro
The only thing that’s harder is terminus enemies and that’s more so just having 1/3 the regular dps because bots deal 0 damage to them
Now that itemisation is fixed tha lack of Solo is the last major grudge I personally have.
And while removing the two player limit for private would be easy to do, what I actually want would be locally hosted solo with my spare characters as bots with progression which is basically exactly what we had in Vermintide 2.
And it would be what mods already offer just with progression enabled.
This would make me also more interested in getting fitting cosmetics for my characters - just saying…
Seriously arguing that this is a coop game is seriously dumb.
I have just played a game where I have met 3 stupid players… they all rushed, not even opening one chest.
At start I have found a medikit.
Then I have seen 2 of them down. One player revived them. Then I have found the ammo crate. The Ogryn took it. We moved forward… then hordes came. Then again, 2 of them being down… this time they died. The Ogryn died and the other one did not bother carrying the ammo crate.
Then the remaining stupid guy has started to run… I followed. He was knocked down few meters away. I revived him, then liberated the 2 others. Then we have moved forward… again they started to rush.
Due to connection (cause I am sure to have launched my throwing knife in time) I ended in a net, Hopefully they were near. As I wanted grimoire I continued my exploration and found the grimoire. But they did not bother taking time… and guess what… hordes have come and then 2 of them, again, died. The remaining one, like before, started running.
I was fighting hordes and killed 1 dog, 1 trapper… but a dog got me. As the last one was far away I decided to use the exploit ALT+F4 and reco. I guess the last one died also cause I have reco with a death screen.
With such teammates, a bot is far better. And BY A LOT. And yes, even if it looks weird, this was a regular damnation and the story is REAL.
So Fatshark gives us a solo mode.
I precise that I don’t ask it for me, but for people that have not a PC or don’t want to install mods.
Everyones yapping on solomodes “to be or not to be” instead of helping.
Here is a solution, go have fun lil fella.
Read the second sentence in the mod’s description to realize why it’s not sufficient to those asking for solo mode.

I know you’re being a smart ass, but at least try harder. The request was “tell us how you install that on console” and your response was “buy/build a computer” which, quite literally, doesn’t allow you to install mods on console. So not only were you a smart ass, you didn’t even answer the question. You could have said “you don’t. You buy or build a computer” and that would still be a smart ass answer that at least answer the question with “you don’t.”

Not only a confirmed feature but a promised one, allegedly “almost” ready back then, and then dropped.
Wherever you are, you’d get to play with zero latency (given it wouldn’t be required to get sniffed by a server to ensure you’re not cheating - but it’s PvE and we don’t get to earn aquilas/premium currency ingame, right? So who even cares?).
And configuring the bots/team would be fun.
Solo mod from the Nexus is neat but not a valid solution (also not on consoles as mentioned).
Solo Play is still requested.
why have people been asking for a solo mode in a multiplayer game for years??
is it that hard to understand?? its not made for solo play!
I play with my group of friends and VERY rarely will solo queue in coop games. We plan our future games together and focus on these coop games.
I also look for PvP games or solo games to play without the group.
Imagine being the type of person that looks for coop games and thinks “I want to play this by myself”
