As the title suggests, (being in line with the new Ogryn re-work) I think a simple addition of light/heavy attacks to the Ripper Gun’s special function would make it more appealing/immersive as the iconic close quarters combat weapon it’s supposed to be.
Light attacks would be the same high stagger sweeps/bashes just like the Twin-Link Heavy Stubbers/Rumbler/Kick-backs.
Heavy Attacks would be the Bayonet Stab, which damage would vary in increments of 10/20/30% based on charge time (1-3 seconds). This would also make the giant bayonet feel more impactful and fit in line with a proper Ogryn melee weapon (damage wise). The current stab attack feels underwhelming and really only serves a purpose when paired with the Can Opener blessing.
These attacks would also work perfectly with talent tree keystones that replenish toughness on melee attacks/ add more damage based on the charge time of your heavy attacks.
The Ripper-Guns would now be as versatile as Psyker Staves and the Grenadier Gauntlet. This sensible tweak to the most iconic Ogryn weapon would actually make a huge difference in terms of replayability. You wouldn’t need to swap weapons as much, wildly swinging your blunt instrument of destruction in the midst of a horde or landing a powerful, charged weakspot hit on a crusher.
