Requesting Bazzite Desktop Assist

Issue Description (Required):

I know FS don’t have much in the way of Linux support, hopefully more as we go by, so this is more for anyone in the community who uses Bazzite on desktop.

Need a lil’ help. I’m new to linux, so bare with. Darktide runs. It runs well when I set it to what works for me. I’m having trouble with a resolution issue, or maybe a user settings issue, I’m unsure.
The game launches at 1080p, which is native resolution on my PC. I play in windowed mode though, with everything. I like to customise the window size so that I can see more of what’s happening. My eyesight sucks, I have a small visual field so I try to fit as much in as possible.
After setting the game via the Video options as normal, it plays AMAZINGLY… 10x what I had on windows. Awesome. THEN… comes the badness. I end a game and go for a brew, come back and relaunch. Only instead of relaunching, it goes through launcher, shader cache building, then disappears! I can hear the game running, but it’s not visible, anywhere. It’s not in a panel or off screen or something like that. It’s just inaccessible. After a lot of “wtf” I find deleting the User_settings config file reset the game and allowed it once more to open in a window 1920-x1008 (not 80- not fullscreen, so still windowed properly).
In game I set ANYTHING different and any relaunch brings the same issue. I can play the game brilliantly in a 720p window until being closed, then breaks.
If anyone has had this issue or related, could you get back to me here? Is there any specific thing I should set up on Steam on Bazzite Desktop for Darktide?

I have the correct version using legacy for gtx1080/i78700k/32GB RAM.

if it worked before then it sounds like a steam/linux issue try changing proton version to the last stable release

right click darktide in the steam library → properties → compatibility → check force use something something → then check the last stable release of proton i think it’s 9.04

Cheers. I switched the resolution in the “big picture mode” game properties to the desired windowed resolution, even though I don’t use it. This got the game to come back on with 1008p window.

Then I saw your post, Rune, and switched to proton 9 series compat. And boom… it’s perfect. I was advised to switch from Experimental to Hotfix, then when that failed a launch, I switched to Proton GE and I was able to get the game working at least, even with this odd trouble. Thanks for the knowledge. Will leave in case any other linux noobs run walk down this daft rabbithole xD
