Remove Veteran survivalist as an aura

Hello Fatshark, just wanna say that it really doesn’t matter how much you buff the other veteran auras survivalist will always overshadow other picks simply because it always gives you back ammo for your secondary (more ammo = more damage logic). Ammo is a finite source and any talent to give it back will be favorable to other options. My suggestion is just to remove it as an aura (nerf it if you have to) and make it a passive node for vet, similar placement in the tree like zealot until death or psyker psykinetic aura or honestly whatever. Just remove it as an aura so were not always limited to this one option.

Would be nice to have it similar to shock trooper as a normal skill for yourself but only work for regular bullets.

I’m a Veteran Sharpshooter who plays exclusively on Havoc 40, the highest tier of difficulty in Darktide.
Let me tell you something from the trenches — the Scavenger ammo returns are almost negligible at high intensity, but they still save lives.

At Havoc level, the Plasma Gun might give back only a few shots.
The Bolter — a single round.
Yet in dozens of near-wipe situations, those few bullets were the thin line between survival and total annihilation.

And ironically, the class that benefits the most from Scavenger isn’t even the Veteran — it’s the Ogryns.
Most Ogryns in Havoc carry Grenade Gauntlets, and when the Veteran is forced to burn through every cell and bolt to hold back waves of elite enemies, ammo crates are long gone.
Scavenger becomes their only lifeline.

In lower difficulties — yes, even the so-called Maelstrom missions (which in my circle we casually call “low difficulty”) — you’ll never face this density of specialists, elites, and ranged threats.
Ammo is everywhere. Mistakes are forgiven. You can reload without fear.

But on Havoc 40?
Every bullet is an act of faith in the God-Emperor.

If Scavenger were to be nerfed or removed because “it seems too good” on easier modes, then mark my words —
the Ogryns will be the first casualties,
and the countless times I’ve clawed victory from the jaws of death with those last pitiful few rounds would simply never happen again.

Plasmagun requires 2 procs of Survivalist to return 1 shot because an uncharged shot needs 3 ammo and all ammo refund is calculated from reserve, not total ammo. Conversely the bolter will return at least one shot per proc (ammo usage per shot on bolter is 1:1:) with every other proc returning 2 ammo.

Survivalist is also technically the only mechanic in Darktide that returns ammo via melee kills, a mechanic that has existed as a melee weapon trait in Vermintide 1 and then never explicitly since.

Remove yourself from the game.

This is a great idea it’s basically mandatory for havoc having it as a passive would make it amazing rather than an aura so we can pick an aura and have variety what the dev charts like
