He’s a gentlemen!
Ogryn’s dodges have less invuln and travel less distance IIRC but it’s still invaluable because it knocks everything out of the way and dodges trapper nets/sniper shots/whatever else, and their slides are just as effective.
Ah, you meant special activation and not just blocking.
Well, in that case, just one trapper or dog will break your guard and make you susceptible to enemy attacks.
If only a handful of enemies in the game can stop you, that’s absolutely terrible design.
Also, you can always use Loyal Protector’s stun to stop the dogs and mutants from charging, even the trapper’s shooting motion.
Unless you’re playing solo, your teammates should at least be capable of completely wiping out these enemies, who offer no resistance because their AI has been completely disabled by the taunt.
Taunt is core to the ability’s identity and part of its appeal. I’d much rather see Loyal Protector nerfed in different ways such as removing the repeat pulses, reducing the taunt to 10-12 seconds and/or making the 3 sub talents underneath mutually exclusive. At least fixing the enemy AI when taunted is a MUST, Taunt shouldn’t just break flamers & ranged enemies AI from actually attacking you.
Maybe if Taunt debuffed enemies, reducing attack speed + damage dealt by them for a period of time, no forced AI retargeting. Kind of makes sense as taunting can “demoralize” enemies
Speaking of quickplay, ogryns are quite rare, and the abilities are fairly evenly distributed. So I wouldn’t say taunt attracts too much attention (for example, compared to “screaming veterans”). However, it does have a quick cooldown to be spammable, and a few pulses can be excessive. While it may have been more fair before the rework, it was considered the least popular and a bit boring. So the ability works fine, the problem is more in the enemies’ behavior. But I always laugh when I see flamethrowers and snipers kicking the air.
So true, nerf Inferno staff because of this
There is a good point here
Just fix snipers, flamers and shotgunners to keep using their ranged attacks when taunted
Rage bait, imo.
Nice trolling with the thread. Remove a class from the game…

That is just wack logic. I have used wildfire for like forever on Psyker because I like the idea. While this is generally considered useless. Still think your logic holds and wildfire suddenly is op now?
I cannot wait for those hilarious scenes, where taunting Ogryn just disappears from existence after getting focused by gunners.
Absolutely. In my regular group, it’s almost a meme that my Ogryn dodges a trapper’s net and someone else gets pulled in front of him who didn’t expect him to dodge it. ![]()

Isn’t this what a Taunt is supposed to achieve though? Enemies get absolutely furious that you insulted them so they want to beat the ever living life out of you.
In this sense ranged enemies running at you instead of shooting makes sense since every single troop wants to personally show you how hard you’ll regret taunting them like that. It’s no longer about making this a quick death. They want to make an example out of you.
With that it makes sense to hear Shotgunners say things like this when switching to melee, especially after they got taunted by an Ogryn: “I’m coming for ya!”, “Gonna flay your skin!”, “YOU AIN’T EVEN REAL SOLDIERS!”
But yeah, this is absolutely hilarious xD
How’s that supposed to make the Ogryn who angered them suffer? If anything they should try to run up to you and then kick you.
So if I follow your logic, Fury the faithful is OP and Chorus / Shroudfield are really bad… and still, someone has argued that Shroudfield is the most broken zealot ability…
(I only use fury the faithful since the patch 13)
Don’t disrespect them. Those kicks are vicious ![]()
yeah without scum’s melee slide immunity you will ALWAYS eat a boot in your ass for trying to sneak by those guys. have to block/parry it every time.
but in general the AI should not be so clumsy and feel like its early access. sure, they’re mad at the ogryn, but their brain doesn’t need to stop functioning. then there’s the straight up goofy like a sniper shooting the shield 150m away and then kicking at the air. how is that supposed to harm the ogryn?
