Remember that if you're unhappy with the current state of the game, a negative review will have serious impact at the moment

This is quickly just becoming an issue of morality for a thing that was never designed to be about morals. I’m not interested in debating the corruption of purity and honor or whatever the intentions of “steam reviews are irrelevant” is meant to project. The only thing that we as consumers can do after we have bought a product that we are dissatisfied with, is stop playing it, request a refund, tell others not to buy it, and leave a negative review. If you think every single negative review is written with malicious intent, then that’s you. I personally don’t care. Even malice has a purpose in life.

I know you hate this idea, but you can, in fact, read the reviews people are making for a game. A lot of reviews in darktide mention the really poor stability and performance of the game, some even mention that they’re fine with the balance, they just don’t like that the update is very boring and not filled with content they care about. You of course have the funny reviews written in an unfamiliar language that uses slang that we’re not familiar with, but you can also read the other ones where people have opinions and statements to make. Do we just assume that those people had the same intention as the people who wrote their negative reviews? They could both be very well coming from the same place of dissatisfaction with the product’s current projection.

I don’t play any other live service games, usually if I notice that I don’t bother touching them, as I know that it leads to something like this eventually. Darktide is the only live service game I have been interested in to this degree. The closest ever to this much care to a game I had was total warhammer 2, and, in spirit of the review I made for that game, I wanted to wait until total warhammer 3 was completely finished and I experienced a victory on the hardest difficulties in that game before I made my review of that one. However, that game was boring, so I just stopped playing altogether instead around when immortal empires came out, and install just to play one kroq’gar campaign every half a year or so. If I had continued to play and follow that game’s life cycle, I probably would have left a negative steam review along with the community for the same reasons, the dev cycle, the abandonment of old content, the failure to fix new content, etc. are big deals to a videogame that is meant to be actively made after release.

I hope that a company will step in the genre. I really want someone to come with a game that has melee AND ranged fights (and that work on Linux smoothly… like all modern games :P).

My reviews are set on negative, just because of solo game mode. But, expeditions is not something I waited… in fact this is the contrary of something good in my opinion.
Also, Darktide runs so bad on Linux, that I am not sure I will continue to follow what Fatshark will do in the future.
But all game modes they added are just big fail for me. Havoc, it destroyed the balance entirely. Mortis Trial, that’s just a joke this mode (and it could have been a great game mode, if there was no bonus and waves of enemies never stopping). Expeditions… just an extraction shooter style badly implemented.
No, sorry, the game is not in a good state. They made lot of game modes, and I still don’t see why they have not just fixed their game and improving it.

The great irony is that they really just had to expand on the main game mode.

The reason people bought the game.

Again: Fatshark doesn’t understand why people play their game.

I have considered it, but I’m not dogpiling on the top of the clearly coordinated Chinese born review bombing “campaign”, becaue they don’t like nerfs to meta picks. As much as I’m annoyed by lack of improvements to performance* , audio special cues, and power creep issues, I don’t think Fatshark deserves this.

/* regarding performance, I have a very good rig (7800x3d and 4080 Super), so does my friend who literally runs the newest AMD 3D CPU + RTX 5080. If the game can stutter for us, just imagine how this feels on the average PC hardware. AMD GPU situation is even worse. It’s just embarrassing, the lack of care in this area. In this regard Fatshark are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to player population numbers and retention.

right, they deserve worse

I don’t know. If you don’t like the game mode… don’t play it? If, hypothetically, this update never released (or maybe just the balance changes) would you have switched your review? I understand feeling like the dev time could have been spent differently but if you enjoyed the game before this update, you wouldn’t have changed your review… and you can still avoid that new game mode.

Now maybe you really didn’t like some of the balance changes… maybe. But are they enough for you to say you don’t like the game AT ALL nor recommend it?

The purpose of reviews is as to whether you would recommend the game to other people… but here it seems more it’s the attempt at using it as leverage to push them to make some change (fat shark). Which on it’s own I don’t mind. I did the same thing when they had all the RNG systems. But I also hated the entire core game play loop and engaging with core and critical parts of the game and I actually would recommend avoiding it (I only bought the game because I liked VT2 and those systems weren’t in darktide on release and didn’t think they would have been RNG monsters, otherwise I never would have bought the game).

But I dunno, just not getting a new map or having pit pocket be nerfed just seems a bit petulant to me.

This whole thing has really made me curious though as to this unhealthy cultural movement around not wanting nerfs from Chinese players which I am struggling to understand.

if only they focused on that

but somehow they did those small short levels operations like the train map and then orthus offensive which arent bad but once you do all penances about it (if people ever plans to do those), then theres not much reason to play them again and it’s just effectively dead content

where main campaign it wont really never be dead content, cause its what most people play, but yet they cant make frequent and constant maps for it

dead content like mortis trials which isnt even fun!

fortunes of war in vt2, was so fun and i played like more than 100+ times

Fatshark only listen to reviews from the Chinese market. They don’t care about reviews from anywhere else.

We better hope they really don’t like expeditions as much as they didn’t like dueling sword nerfs.

no worries, expeditions isn’t a min max mode and people go their own ways most of the time.

little appeal there I guess.
