In addition to leaving a review and refraining from future purchases, this method is one of the most effective ways to convey to Fatshark that we are dissatisfied. While I cannot guarantee a refund, it is possible that you may receive one; so please consider that if you choose to submit a refund request, you will not have access to Darktide until you decide to repurchase it. Alternatively, you could submit a “General Queries” or “Gameplay Feedback & Suggestions” request, but these may not carry the same weight as a refund request.
I think if the meal contained steak, you paid for it expecting steak, and they never gave you steak and claimed it ‘wasn’t a priority’ an hour after they’d told you it was five minutes from leaving the kitchen, you can absolutely get your money back, regardless of if you enjoyed the potato salad.
Yes, there were multiple “it’s coming”, “it’s almost done”, and “we’re finishing it up” posts prior to the “it’s not a priority” followed by radio silence.
The letter is directly to Fatshark, I mentioned “Steam has already declined the refund” because I tried refunding through Steam first, but naturally after ~40 hours (~30 of which was from the pre-release beta), Steam wouldn’t refund it, but Fatshark did.
Ragnarok already covered my go-to analogy for your response, so I’d like to point out that this isn’t a situation of “whelp, that was fun. Let’s see if I can get my money back.” It’s a situation of “I’ve been waiting almost 3 years to play the game in a way they told me would be available shortly after release” (for me) and “I’m sick of Fatshark pulling crap like removing ‘universal’ human cosmetics from Arbites to sell more premium cosmetics” among others.
It’s not a “I ate my meal, I want a refund” and more of a “I bought a season pass to your theme park, but I’m sick of broken rides, extra charges, and that ride still being out of order after almost 3 years and you won’t even tell us if you’re working on it. I want my money back!”
They gave me one after ~40 hours but did have the caveat of “since your hours are on the low end” and my only gripe was the lack of solo mode (at the time). Which is why I had the disclaimer
I’ve been considering buying something that costs around $10 each month on Steam, and sending the receipt to FS with the note, “Money I would have spent on DT, if it wasn’t for the odious FOMO shop.”
You may have had too many hours. I had ~45 with the majority being from the pre-release beta and a handful of duos matches once private lobbies were available. Steam obviously denied it, but Fatshark gave me the refund because my hours “were on the lower end” according to @FatsharkJulia who issued my refund at the time
Yeah, she’s the one who denied my request. I filed a complaint with the federal trade commission’s consumer protection agency due to their false advertisement and fraud. I had too many hours played by their metrics, but all I did was level up the characters so I could use them as kitted out bots. Which, AGAIN, I wouldn’t have done if I’d known they would lie like they did.
No guarantee is perhaps little bit too optimistic for these “you are absolutely not getting a refund for this” kinds of situations.
On top of that i feel like the scheme should be at first little bit more clandestine if you know what i mean. Like not being posted on their board on top of the main discussion
Well, again, I got mine with ~45 hours of playtime. So you can get one if your hours are “on the low end” (i.e., you bought it, played a bit, and decided to hold off until the game was better/had features that were promised)
