Name of title. Sad to come back after however many months, and have everything related to weapon balance be exactly the same. No new blessing combinations. No interesting changes to weapons. Just the same stuff since the balance patch however many months ago, the one before Traitor’s Curse.
Not to mention some of the balance changes we did get were a bit dumb. Good job nuking Disrupt Destiny.
I for one don’t mind the scavenger changes.
And nerfing Inexorable is insane to me, I don’t get it at all.
Buff Stun Grenade is completely baffling.
And a lot of the other changes were just some generic numbers being changed without really addressing issues with the talents themselves.
Ok. Fine. I’ll go ahead of the usual names and profile pics:
“Drago, this patch wasn’t intended to bring item changes. They never said they will. This is precisely what they said they’d do. Itemization is coming. Appreciate the work here. Have fun with what you have.”
Yes, this is one thing I was really hoping they’d have ready to roll out by now. Its pretty confusing. Surely keeping the game fresh with balance changes is easier to do?
I didn’t ask for weapon reworks. I didn’t ask for itemisation changes. I asked for some weapon balance changes. Is that such a monumental task for Fatshark? Well its not a class overhaul patch, but we still got class balance changes? According to you thats the same as a class overhaul.
But you’re right. I shouldn’t ask them to give something like 25% more damage on single target thunder hammer attacks. That is too much effort that could be spent on typing up a passage for completing 50 lights out missions.
The fact that Darktide is shackled with Fatshark and Helldivers gets Arrowhead is a universal tragedy.
From people who were pushing for and where eventually invited to cooperate. They are covered by NDA, but we know that much. Fatshark has reached out to a small group of active Darktide community members, and invited them to help out with their testing etc. The group includes few knowledgeable Tide “creators/streamers” like j_sat, telepots, and few more people who really care about the franchise, like numbers and/or data mined the sh…of Tide games. We already had several changes introduced due to their feedback etc. It’s a good thing, as we know that at least historically no one at Fatshark really played their games at the highest difficulty levels, those guys do.
I believe they were also invited to Fatshark’s HQ. I would imagine that made some cooperation easier. Check j_sat about section on Twitch if you don’t believe me:
I believe you, I know at least one person that’s a part of this besides the ones you mentioned.
What I’m hooked up on is the slow turn around. I understand if there is a full rework being designed, or a moveset change like the Krourk cleaver got, but I really, really don’t understand and frankly hate that their isn’t some more consistent “number changes.” Just to spice things up a little bit. They might be reluctant due to crafting, but that might be giving them too much credit.
I know the changes Mk4 Chaxe got were a part of that, and it’s an absolutely amazing and fun weapon now (arguably too strong…), however I think certain weapons don’t need that much attention. Or could use some little tune ups in the meantime if they are getting larger redesigns.
You’ll just have to get used to it I’m afraid, it’s how fatshark has always operated. I’ve reported bugs in vermintide that took three years to fix. Just let the game die in between updates and play something else until everyone comes back to it at the next patch.
Hey, all my usual sarcasm aside - I sympathize with your sentiment. It’s a journey, this.
As I’ve said several times before - I return to these forums to sanity-check myself and remember the lessons from DT (dramatic, perhaps, but in reality it’s more like a 12-step AA program), after going over a few cycles of hope, cope, dissonance, skill-checks and community tremors.
Believe me, that frustration shows in some Fatshark’s Glassdoor reviews also. Hopefully one day someone will emerge there with enough influence to improve their internal processes and workflows.
I want soon though, I want small iterative changes until weapons feel correctly balanced. Rather than some huge sweeping changes like they made to the survivalist aura.
That’s actually a fairly small change if you consider changes which were introduced in one go with updates like Patch 13 (class revamp / sweeping weapon rebalance etc.).
