I’ve been playing auric hi-shock a lot and I noticed a problem that comes up randomly once every 5-7 missions. Specials spawn in waves on shock gauntlet and while the number is very high it’s not TOO high for the players to overcome. But sometimes the spawn director just goes insane and dumps ridiculously large numbers of specials onto the map with no warning whatsoever.
For instance you might be fighting 8 assorted specials and a horde at the same time, which is difficult but not overwhelmingly so. And then a door opens and 8 flamers, 6 bulwarks, 4 mutants, 2 dogs and a scab shotgunner patrol just vomit forth and the entire team is just utterly slaughtered within 30 seconds because there’s so many enemies that your character cannot physically move anymore. Once you play enough high shocks you get a feel for how things are “supposed to go”, if the average hi-shock mission is a 5 this difficulty spike is more like a 12. I’ve had a few that I would describe as high as a 15 with just utterly ludicrous numbers of specials and elites deployed at the same time, 20-40+ easily.
This seems somewhat unfair because if the players are handed a situation where it’s not possible to survive no matter how good your team is, the whole mission is essentially a waste of time. Players should at the very least have a forewarning of these events, like how hordes and sniper gauntlets give you a sound cue ahead of time.
