Not enough difference between high-intensity and shock gauntlet

That’s how it seems to me. High intensity and HISG have become far too similar since patch #13. While there are not the same clear specialist waves that come and go present in HI as compared to HISG, there is still an excess of specialists rather than just “more enemies”. It has become a far too common occurrence to have anywhere from 2-4 of the actual special specialists (trappers, bombers, etc) spawn at the same time in a manner that just feels too much like HISG, on top of the already increased number of elites (gunners, shotgunners, etc). I’m not sure what the consensus is on the definition of these two parameters but to me it ought to be this:

  • High intensity has a greater number of non-specialist enemies and an increased rate of horde spawns with a slight uptick in specialists. Just larger groups of chaff and a more constant flow of enemies towards you with minimal breaks, if any. I include in this the passive little groups that spawn throughout the mission. These should be greatly increased in number, rather than eliteness.
  • High intensity shock gauntlet should have all of the aforementioned changes from a baseline mission, in addition to the clear and defined specialist waves that occur in it presently. Short of a multi-parameter maelstrom mission, these should be about as hard as the game gets.

Right now there’s not a clear enough distinction between them in my eyes to justify them even being separate things. They play virtually the same so either tweak it or just get rid of one.

I agree. HISTG should have its spawn rate further increased. Same as Maelstrom.

Isn’t the description of high intensity being a higher concentration of enemies in the area? This means any type of enemies, special included. STG description is about strikes of specials which translates in a lot of specials spawning st the same time. I understand what you are asking but i would leave high intensity as it is and instead let’s add a new modifier that behaves like you describe.

Hi shock in auric damnation is too easy since the last patch imo. Maybe ive gotten used to it or something but it really feels like the AI director is holding back a lot now. They should add an endless horde version of hi shock
