Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I last played Darktide. I was wondering if the game performs better on Windows 10 or Windows 11? I’m running an AMD CPU and GPU with 16GB of RAM. I’ve spent way too much time troubleshooting this game in the past and I’m honestly a bit burnt out, so I figured I’d just ask the community for your experience.
if you’re using any sort of video replay program/voice recording software that’s built into your gpu etc, turn it off or you will probably run out of memory. other than that, “amd cpu and gpu” isn’t really enough to go off of specs-wise to give any meaningful feedback. only way for you to know really is to just try it.
with an amd gpu you will never get good performance on Darktide. That said follow this guide to fix the most egregious problems that happen when using an amd gpu. AMD GPU stutter fix + clarity improvement (May also work for NVIDIA). : r/DarkTide
It runs better on Win10, though you can adjust a lot of stuff in Win11 that makes it run basically like Win10. In my experience this game is rather poorly optimized overall. I have a mid-range setup and I have to lower a lot of stuff to get decent fps. I don’t play with frame generation on as it adds too much latency and will get me killed surprisingly often in a game already suffering from latency issues.
Then there’s all the weird crashes. Failing to load into mourningstar after end mission, textures that fail to load in or only load in their most washed-out form etc.
Overall the engine is still full of bugs and runs poorly. The ratio of eye-candy to performance is poor. It looks great at max settings, but performs abysmally imo.
It seems I’ll have to test it myself after all
. I’m using a 5700X + 6750XT, and I’m really hoping the optimization has improved since last year. Thanks for your help.
true.
Darktide runs with the best performance possible on Linux actually.
I have read the same. Especially with AMD hardware it seems to run better on a linux
i average about 5-10 fps more on linux ever since i swapped back in october last year, and im on an nvidia gpu so yeah AMD users might eat pretty good on linux. can’t be sure tho myself
