QoL improvement ideas

So I wanted to post a bunch of improvement ideas that would help a ton with the game. Thanks to the class overhaul (which was amazing btw!), in addition to many of the basics I always felt were a bit lackluster since the game released, we now have a whole ton of new things to keep track of on top of what we used to. Also with the weapon and curio balance overall being much improved from before, we now have more reason than ever before to store a huge amount of different types of gear for different builds and needs. Even several versions of the same weapon!

With that in mind, below is a list in no particular order about the things I’d love to see in the game:

Inventory

  • Let us lock gear so it can’t be sold
  • Give us a way to store gear in a chest of some kind, to let us clean up inventory without having to sell the items. Note I’m not suggesting account-wide transfer between characters here, I understand perfectly well why that is not a thing (not yet at least).
  • Let us flag items below, to help with crafting. Since crafting new weapons typically means buying 30-50+ of them from Brunt to get even 1-2 good pieces, each crafting session means spamming X for a full minute or more afterwards to get rid of the extra.
  • Speaking of selling, save the page’s location or at the very least scroll to the bottom below the selection, as opposed to above. Since right now selling an item scrolls to the top with the next selection being the last on the list, you can never see what’s below it. This constantly results in accidentally selling some previously stored greys as you.
  • Make weapon skins gearset specific, so you can use the same weapon with different skins to match different outfits on your different saved builds
  • Thanks to more potential builds than ever before, we could use more saved gearsets too

In-mission gameplay & combat

  • Many more blessings or talents than ever before require you to track them to make the best use of them. For example True Aim at 5 stacks means your next Voidstrike shot with Surge is a guaranteed 2-shot crit. With this in mind, I’d love it if using MMO’s as inspiration we could add a handful of buff icons (say, 3-5) below our crosshair. So long as it’s not obtrusive to the point of blocking the view. If your blitz and ult statuses were also visible here, it would help tremendously.
  • Similarly, an option to move peril and Plasma charge closer to the center of the screen would be much appreciated!
  • In-mission emotes! A separate keybind or with console players in mind a combination of already existing ones could be used to do emotes during a mission. You know, for those elevator rides or when you’re waiting for the horde to come. >:)
  • While patch #13 added numeric values for hp and toughness, we still can’t see ammo counters. Not only do we not know our own max ammo unless we memorize it every time (something you can’t even do when you first join an ongoing mission), we also have no idea how much ammo our teammates have. The yellow marker only indicates below 50%, even though it’s every bit as important to know who in the team has 51% and who has 95%, to distribute those small and large weapon caches accordingly.
  • For some reason patch #13 made grenades show as red for those who don’t have them. This makes no sense, since it indicates they have run out. While it’s obvious psykers don’t need nades, not so with knife zealots as you may not even know they’re using that. So all classes who can’t pick up nades should always have a white or even a special icon like an X on top instead of red like now.

General stuff

  • Right after release you guys made a poll about various things about the game, and lack of interesting facial & hair options was on that list. I’m still hoping we might get more of those at least for us girls. Most everyone uses the same 1-2 faces and hairstyles. :frowning: Idk what the situation is with guys but more for both is always better.
  • If at all possible, it would be nice to be able to change height, name, gender and voice. Or at least some of those things if there are some technical difficulties with names for example. Personally I’m happy with mine but I understand why many others might not be.
  • This is a bit off-topic, but T5 Auric HISTG missions are pretty broken rn. Pox bursters should never spawn instantly in explosion mode on top of you or behind a corner 1m away, ever. Nor should trappers or dogs ever be silent, since if you don’t even have a chance to know one is there when you’re fighting a horde, it’s effectively game over. These are extremely frustrating experiences and have a dramatic impact on the fun so I wanted to put this in here too.

Thank you for reading! And if anyone else has any other suggestions I’d be happy to hear them!

Okay guys, you know the drill. Who is going to tell him?

At least we can tell it’s not “him”

But yeah, Fatshark pretty much turns a blind eye to QoL and people move to mods for it.

Big thing that would be nice as a base feature is hotkeys for the morning star. I know there is a mod for it but it tends to break after every update and having it as a base thing would be cool, especially when it comes to the larger influx of new players as well as people who now can’t mod their games.

Def agree a mass tag and scrap system would be nice.

I think in addition it would be nice to see a catalog of all the blessings you can get on each weapon and class similar to how you can page through the various class cosmetics at the cosmetic shop.

I think especially since we are entering a stage where people can’t mod their games it’s important to have QOL updates in mind.

How to make the game better in 4 words - New maps and weapons

Good luck playing the new maps when you want to play them, or getting new weapons that don’t underperform because of RNG. Their underlying systems tend to suck any excitement or hype from their new content unless they scramble to break their own designs for them.

Honestly at this point I think the only way darktide could get really fixed is if they made modding more main stream like how you can mod vermintide 2 with the steam workshop

Alot of missed opportunities. If FS scan through nexusmods…some excellent mods they could natively add into game.

Showing other’s ammo reserve is no. 1 for me. Makes it easier to know whether to pick up ammo or leave for someone else without having to ask every time.
