I hate not being able to edit. This was in reply to another reply.
Yes! I originally bought this to play with my group, but I knew they’d drop the game in a couple weeks, which they did, but didn’t mind because solo was supposed to drop just weeks after launch. I thought I could play the best 40k game on my own terms. Fatshark’s failed to deliver for over 3 years now. I don’t want to worry about peak player times or randos to be integral of my enjoyment of the game. I certainly do not want to be responsible for others’ enjoyment, or lack there of, if I’m not playing “correctly.”
MMT is great, and huge kudos to the creator, but it’s a stopgap that FS can patch away with nuking old mission IDs completely. They’ve already limited the time IDs are active. Just takes one more patch and the mod’s dead.
So, to be clear: I bought this with the explicit expectation of a solo mode, as advertised by Fatshark at the time of purchase. The later “it’s not a priority” statement is little comfort since those came many months later.
More and more hardcore gamers wants the game balanced with havoc in mind…
This means that more and more we need to be able to play solo games…
Please please please… give us solo game mode.
I don’t know why someone flagged the above post…
Just to say it… Eviltreerat can have his own opinion. This won’t change mine.
If something is good, I won’t say it is bad just because I am not satisfied of something else.
Fatshark did several bad things… there is several things I do not like… But as I have always said if you don’t feel entertained with a game, stop playing it!
I hate their cosmetic store, the game modes they introduced (Havoc AND Mortis Trial both are bad jokes), the lack of balance (PG, DS are the examples)…
That’s why I ask a solo game mode… because I am really tired to wait for a balance that will NEVER come. This is like believing that Star Citizen will be one day a true game and will get out of the beta test… no way, it will NEVER happen, like we will NEVER get a balanced game.
Give us a solo game Fatshark… like that you can destroy as much as you want your own game…
Anyways, no cosmetics released for Scums… means no money spent in shop. So Fatshark can quit to be anxious to lose shop customers…
Because if they allow us to use our bots, it could boost the sales. However, if they don’t, I don’t believe it will change, at all, the said sales.
Fax good sir $
Don’t think the shop is doing so well considering they had that 4000 scambucks for $5 or whatever not that long ago.
Also keep in mind MMT only works for PC players. Those of us who prefer Consoles are left out in the cold without much to…
console us?
Got to love it , 4 years ago one guy gets a little over his skis goes and counts an almost done feature as done and i dont think we’ve gone a month without it coming back to bite them ![]()
this is why ladies and gentlemen you should never announce what you’re working on, never release a roadmap and never talk to the police. it will be taken down and used against you .
I do think it’s shocking they haven’t at least come out with a big mallet and put this idea out of our misery by now.
Or… hear me out… you could behave with responsibility, integrity, and transparency. Not this Schrodinger’s Solo Mode BS.
Don’t put FS failings solely on the community. Not that everyone is perfect, but there’s a whooole lotta reaping what you sow before you get to “um don’t tell ppl anything or they will be mean”.
FWIW I thought it was nice that they did in fact share a little roadmap at the end of last year.
and what will that get you? the same indifference saying nothing did , the point is things taken down are only used to condemn nothing you say to the police will help you at trial nothing said in a roadmap or feature will bring goodwill they are bars you can only be punished for not clearing.
I’m not defending FS here, I agree their communication is terrible, most extrinsic systems launched in a placeholder state, those that were not absent. Their balance team dragged their feet for years. And imo the game direction has been deeply flawed heading down the havoc route.
And why we need a solo game mode
Because they obviously are unable to balance their game and give us a game mode that unite all the community.
They succeeded to split the community (Auric vs Havoc)… seriously, I have NEVER seen that before in any game I have played. Never seen such dumb move.
I wonder if they did not think about it (in other word, are they stupid) or if it was intentional (in other word, dumb…).
the read i got from it is they did a lot of expansion to size up for DT and were used to a pretty flat structure , which just didnt cope with the size and its caused a lot of problems.
its easy to go to extremes online everything is malicious or incompetent , but neither make a lot of sense here to me, ive put well over a thousand hours in DT a lot of us have.
They made a game mode that split the community… and that, they could see it. The way they have built Havoc could not give an other result…
Frankly, will you say me that they had no idea that a game mode that forbids you to use ranged weapons (except lasers) won’t please all players?
But, DS, PG. Do you think they could miss all posts in the forum? they have chosen to not nerf it.
When you have a game with no balance at all, the best way to play it is.. in solo. This is the only way to be able to enjoy it totally.
Actually, a lot of things are not viable. You cannot take them in missions or you become a spectator.
The community would like to impose to the players a way to play. See Havoc players that want the weapon and talents balanced FOR Havoc (disclaimer: I understand them and their feeling is LEGIT). But Havoc ≠ Auric. If you balance for Havoc, Auric will be too easy.
So Fatshark, please allow the players to escape this nightmare you created.
Keep in mind that FatShark is still fixing this game’s balance. Bound by Duty was a start, a part I, you might say of the ongoing process. I noticed that the playerbase often start to think that the game is doomed in many aspects when we get no new updates for an extended amount of time.
So I just want to say, don’t sink in that feeling, it will get better eventually. It might take a while but it’ll get there. But I agree. Having a Solo Mode and Modifiers Freed/Released into the current mission rotation to enjoy while they are busy on their stuff would make the 3-month wait much more bearable.
i cant speak to Havoc at all i really dont like it either its affect on weapons and balance, it destroys the pacing it was imo entirely the wrong way to introduce higher difficulties.
but i will say no development ever has a clear view of the fine details of the end starting out.
myself i am fortunate damnation and a bit of auric is difficult as i need.
i agree the balance team is an absolute shocker they are unbelievably slow and innefective.
but one of the clear problems with a havoc style mode is you will push the game past its paramaters and various builds/weapons will work and others simply wont. it allways goes like that when you push a game to its fringe limits.
Really hoping we’ll get it soon…
Found this interesting: Ampere Analysis
More than half (56%) of gamers prefer single-player experiences to multiplayer, according to new research from Ampere Analysis’s Games Consumer data. A survey of 34,000 gamers across 22 markets reveals a 4% increase in preference for playing single-player games over the last four years.
Obviously this is just a single study of 34k people, but the fact that “single player” is the preferrence by a slim margin is neat. We’ve been sold the “multiplayer is where it’s at!” narrative for decades, but I’ve always preferred solo or private lobbies (co-op primarily or pvp goof offs in games like Halo) with friends
Reporting for duty!
+1 for Solo Play.
As promised in 2022… (dang)
Bots are still quite miserable, non-customizable placeholders, and likely a major blocker for Solo mode availability or further development.
Playing with other players will remain my priority and the best experience.
Yet: Solo Play is still highly requested/desired.
Over.
cause they make more money this way with “less effort” than a one time buy of a great single player game i.e fallout new vegas (or your title of choice here)
from the players perspective, having a digital hobby to for once get away from the “apes in suits” you run into at every step outside, of course I leave my workplace/school etc that forced me to interact with em only to enjoy their presence in my free time too.
and single player games still offer plenty epeen competition potential, as in speedruns, no dmg taken or whatever is the current
metric
still it’s a one off purchase with little follow up revenue.
but for the player enjoying his free time at his pace and ruleset, all the more relaxing.
take space marine 2 for example .
I enjoy the content(still gotta lvl my char for “absolute” though) and did every map on lethal without having to bother about “other people” even once.
“hey thats my class, take another dude” -my ass, you’re as “useful” as a third tit and gonna get ignored just the same. ![]()
countless hours in fallout/2/new vegas(and heavily modded 4)
countless years(?) in doom/quake/hexen/
and though darktide is a great game, the “multiplayer part” is on the side of things to swallow when wanting to enjoy the content, not the content itself (see sm2 solo mode)
Just play an Auric mission for more than 5 minutes and it becomes solo anyway as backfill is broke AF
