What next? Are you going to ask me to solve the world hunger? It’s not about nice, its about silly arguments. Of course I don’t know that console players have limited access to their gaming machines /sarcasm.
I have no problem with introduction of an official Solo game mode, even if most maps don’t support it well due to “team play” objectives. I have a problem with “Solo mode pls” threads from 1 day old accounts here and “I haven’t played the game for 2 years, and there is still no solo mode” nonsense threads on Steam.
For sake of argument: I really hope Fatshark adds Solo mode for Christmas. Just so the same tired crowd can stop creating “alt” accounts to ask the same tired question to show a “widespread” demand.
I don’t really see how that answers the question. There’s plenty of reasons someone would ask for soloplay because he either cannot actually use mods or because the caveats on the mods aren’t acceptable to him.
To give examples for the latter, the solo play mod changes special timings, dodge timings. I think there’s a mod that ALSO fixes this by simulating fake ping, but it does more: It also changes how the director spawns enemies. To my knowledge modders haven’t figured this one out yet, and I’m not sure they can even reverse engineer that one. There’s also the issue of soloplay mods not allowing you to get rewards. Also, the soloplay mod still requires an internet connection because playing the game itself does.
All of these caveats + the fact only PC supports them anyway makes it a reasonable demand in my opinion. I think the idea that it’s a fake sentiment because you think the people asking for it are fake is pretty out there and shows some pretty serious bias in your thinking. I emphatize with the other guy questioning your intelligence to be honest if thats actually what you think and you aren’t joking.
Jan is also, I believe still, adamant that all the concerns about the game mechanics being broken right now are just bad players getting owned playing HS.
I think this quokka just got hold of some of nurgle’s tainted vegetarian rations and is having a bad time. It happens.
I’m me, bro—not some alt. Bless you and yours. Let’s vibe together instead of turning on each other. We’re trying to sink into this dark, rich setting and really thrive, you feel me? This game has the potential to soar. So let’s keep it lively, keep it civil, and let that energy flow, baby.
This will never change. Rewards from solo play are also problematic, whatever EXP or resources. Fatshark servers would have to trust the client (your game copy) with data about your progression. This would open up a new can of worms, and make the progression more vulnerable to manipulation as you have full control over the game files on your PC, and data it shares with Fatshark servers.
I really try to avoid absolutes, but yes, Hive Scum lower TDR and limited toughness over time effects are behind the main reason why more people fail on the class, just after their unfamiliarity with the class.
I have plenty of concerns about broken or inconsistent game mechanics in Darktide. It’s probably half of my posts here, rants about stuff not working or being poorly balanced / designed.
Also before I get labelled as a toxic “elitist” for disagreeing with someone, I simply would like to preserve Tide games on the level which pulled me in the first place: engaging gameplay, which requires some attention to what’s happening on the screen. Those qualities are slowly slipping away.
Listen, you’re entitled to your opinion, but your main argument against solo play seems to be “I’m tired of hearing people ask for it in a primarily co-op game.” Halo is a primarily Campaign focused series (or at least it historically was), how would you feel if you primarily played Halo for PvP or for co-op with friends and the studio released the next Halo game as a purely single player campaign and no matchmaking, but said “will you be able to play the campaign with friends and play pvp? The answers will be yes, and yes. It’s almost ready and will be available at launch or shortly after in a patch a month after launch.” then, almost a year later with no updates except split-screen couch co-op being added, they said “It’s not a priority as Halo is primarily a single player game,” said nothing else for two years, and every time you tried to fight for pvp matchmaking you got told to “shut up, it’s a single player game,” while they ignored the franchise’s (and genre’s) history.
That’s what you’re doing here, and fighting against it by telling us to stop asking is only going to perpetuate that the developers can say whatever they want and not deliver on any promises because the players will shut up and take it. For Darktide, it’s Solo Mode. For Vermintide 3/Darktide 2 it could be customizable talent trees. “They’re almost ready,” into “well, Left 4 Dead didn’t have them so they’re not needed. Stop asking.”
I’m loving the fact-checks—spot on. And that Left 4 Dead analogy? Perfect to bring into the mix. They shouldn’t be making excuses at all; this game deserves to be treated like a prize, something you polish and show off, not something you overlook.
