At this point there has to be a very specific reason they are actively avoiding adding/talking about this. I am going to guess it has something to do with them somehow making less money as a result. Splitting the player base and creating a situation where the current average player count drops even lower because a percentage of those “online” aren’t actually participating in the entire purpose of the game.
I really do think it’s as simple as it having not been a priority, and that the various modes and systems that have been layered on the base game since the original solo announcement have made creating a proper solo mode vastly more complicated.
Accordingly it is now in need of so much work that they simply do not want to talk about it until it is enough of priority and has had enough work done on it to be less than a year away.
Hence they won’t give a hard yes or no. It’s too far off to make any sense giving a yes, but it’s not actually scrapped for sure so they’re not going to give a no either.
This makes sense to me anyway.
Hence my roofing analogy. If your roofing company promised gutters, and then added a chimney you didn’t ask for and suddenly said “yeah, gutters are hard now that you have a chimney,” you’d shout “THEN WHY’D YOU PUT IN A CHIMNEY”
Note that an explanation is not necessarily a defence.
That said I do think a lot of the reworks they’ve focused on since launch (crafting, Auric, maelstrom, talent trees) are very clearly higher value on average for the player base than solo would be.
I just don’t care how hard they’ve made it for themselves because I categorically refuse to accept a franchise devolving and dropping previously core features, especially explicitly promised feature. You made your bed Fatshark, now lie in it.
It’s been years of reworks and getting the base game to an acceptable state. It’s finally time to tackle this Fatshark. Your promise is overdue and you are out of emergency reworks to continue to delay this indefinitely.
Just do it.
Yeah, I wasn’t saying you were defending them, I actually agree with you. Just using an analogy to emphasis how absolutely awful Fatshark is when it comes to priorities.
Worst part? We’ll never know their true list of priorities because they refuse to give us a real roadmap. Even the end-of-year one barely counted as a roadmap, imo.
Edit:
Also,
I know Papa Palps is who most people think of with “do it” but I always jump to this:

No that’s exactly what was in my head when I said that lol. Just couldn’t be bothered grabbing a gif of it when I posted so thanks for covering my laziness ![]()
You need to do 1 of 2 things:
Either put out the feature
Or tell people it’s not coming out and why
Fatshark probably can’t do the first but doesn’t want to admit it, and they refuse to do the second because they treat the players like mushrooms.
Just gonna leave these here for @FatsharkCatfish
Solo Play doesn’t even offer progression and has almost 15k unique downloads, and while Many More Try isn’t specifically a “Solo Mode” mod, it does allow you to launch private lobbies solo and still have progression.
It’s clearly a wanted feature, so Fatshark needs to stop slacking
If a studio full of supposedly professional & experienced coders and developers can’t finish something that modders did over a year ago, something is very wrong.
Any bets I would make are on someone(s) having a fit that solo-mode would “detract from the community feels”. But as you said, Obesetuna won’t ever admit to screwing up. Even when they get caught. Deny, deflect, and in the worst case send in the sockpuppets, simps, and shills to bully the nasty people into silence.
Every time I come back to see if just maybe, by some miracle, things have started to turn around I am reminded why I splurged for a console to run HD2. Fun my way when I want to play, not being chained to the whim of three others and the rampant ego’s of a developer.
Recently, my ISP’s become a bit… “unreliable” to put it politely… and I’ve been completely unable to play Darktide since February 27th, 2026.
You see, I’m living in Australia, and Australia’s internet is worse than Nicaragua’s, if my memory serves me well. Because my ISP’s become so unreliable, my internet speed for the last almost week at this point has been a quarter of what it should be, rendering Darktide UNPLAYABLE for me without an option for Solo Mode.
While I DO recognise that this is an issue with my ISP and probably shouldn’t phase Fatshark… and I will be changing to another ISP after mine has pulled this cr*p… it would’ve been NICE to be able to play Darktide via Solo Mode while going between ISPs.

ok, I see myself out ![]()
That’s crazy would of thought Australia would have great infrastructure for connectivity.
But I know it is wide known to be hit and miss. Just surprised been like that for so long.
When my sister moved to Sweden she signed up to 1Gbps service in 2005
They were always ahead with connectivity.
However she moved to Australia and loving the sun and sea.
Funny thing is. My phone 5G is faster than home internet. So I could download Darktide off my phone in 15 mins. So I just load my steam downloads tethered from phone.
Boy, it sure is great to see a simple roadmap for what’s upcoming in 2026 for Titan Quest 2, even knowing that it’s subject to change
HINT HINT
This needs to be the bar. Every fake-ass retention strategy they’ve implemented has made the game worse and driven players away. Just keep improving the quality of the experience and people will come. No need to entrap us, we are already held hostage by the tide genre ![]()
Yeah… without getting too off-topic I’ll just say it’s the same old story as to why. Plus on a national level we are REALLY spread out!
All the more reason to offer a robust offline experience ![]()
And I really don’t understand why you think that…
Have you tried solo game mod and Teritum5?
Yes they are not perfect, but I don’t see any difference when using the mod if you launch havoc or mortis trial.
If it was possible in 2022, it is still possible in 2026.
I really think that the explanation is more simple than that.
They don’t care of what we want. They act like MicroShit (my favorite garbage company that convinced me to test Linux seriously, especially after today and discovering all new annoyances they invented in 1 year to forbid their users to enjoy their computer like they want and to impose their bad features).
Fatshark does not care to respect their words, they don’t care of their users and are surely laughing a lot when they check the number of cosmetics sold. I firmly believe that the CEO thinks “how stupid are our customers… we don’t even need to respect them to get money”
I think there are thousands of reasons code that is good enough for a mod might be considered not good enough for official release.
I find it far more believable than them having an irrational and self destructive hatred for their player base.
Can we stop arguing about this though? Really detracts from the point of this thread.
But you said it already twice.
And my point is… there is no real change about solo or bots that was introduced between 2022 and 2026. So, I don’t see how this could explain anything.
Bots are unchanged… missions, mortis trial and Havoc are game modes that bring nothing really new. This is just missions and conditions…
So, I will say it differently… or they lied, or they said something that they had clearly not even worked on it and promised it for December knowing perfectly it would not be released, or this is just not their priority and really don’t care of their image and their customers.
Best would be that they talk to us instead of hiding into a disappointing silence
Yeah you’re right and that’s my bad, I’ll avoid further speculation on reasons we’ve gotten to where we are.
I will just say from my nearly decade of experience on these forums, playing these games, and observing the developments of Fatshark’s games, it is rarely correct to bet on malevolence of disregard of their players as a motivation for their actions. They have many issues but not caring about their games or their players has never been one of them in my experience.
Yeah, as much flak as I give the studio as an entity, they’re usually not malicious, just enough things in the studio (processes, oversight, policies, structure, organisation, etc.) are shoddy or poorly thought out or miscommunicated enough that they have knock-on effects or issues compound on each other.
While I agree there’s a good chance it’s not out of malice, the fact that it’s been 3 years of asking and not a peep of “we hear you, it’s being worked” does instill a bit if doubt. The longer we go without hearing “it’s coming” and the more they add brand-new content that wasn’t promised pre-release, the more I’m leaning towards “malice towards solo players”
