Push to Talk on Controller (PC)

Issue Description:

I play on PC and use a controller. I have an issue using the in-game voice chat that stems from two different causes.

There is no button mapped on the default controller layout for me to use push to talk. I won’t get into the various reasons why leaving my mic open is a no-go for me and my setup. The Traitor’s Curse update allows me a little flexibility with a few new button profiles, but I’m still unable to use the in-game voice chat without leaving my microphone open full-time.

I know the Keybindings menu has a Push to Talk button mapping. I’d happily use the Space Bar to Push to Talk if it would work. The problem with that is DarkTide only handles input from one device at a time.

I’ve noticed when in the Options menu, if you press a button on your controller, the Keybindings menu disappears. The game begins to accept input from the controller, but all current active inputs from the keyboard are ignored. When you press (or release) a key on the keyboard, the Keybindings menu reappears, and the current controller inputs are ignored.

What this means in practice is that if I map Push to Talk to my Space Bar and press it in-game, even though the analog stick is held forward, my character stops walking. I can talk for as long as I hold the same position on the analog stick or don’t press or release any buttons on the controller. The moment I change my controller inputs, the space bar being held down for Push to Talk is ignored, and I’m no longer heard on the voice-chat. I have to choose between talking and playing the game, so I simply stay muted full-time.

I’d like to see the Up Directional Button in the default controller mappings set to Push-to-Talk since it currently doesn’t have any other functionality. That seems way easier to fix than trying to overhaul a system for single device input detection.
