The psyker’s ult can save you after you start exploding. I often run into high-level psykers who don’t seem to know this, and it really opens up psyker gameplay as you don’t have to worry so much about accidentally overloading yourself.

Things that generate peril do not need as much to be missing in order for your head not to explode. Here are some thresholds where you can always still survive the cast:
- Brain burst 97%
- Force sword push & weapon special 99%
- Staff (the one with the AOE circle blast) 99% for left click, 97% for right click (you must finish the cast at 97%)
If you play while living on the edge you don’t need to quell for longer than 0.5 to 1 second before making another cast. In case of the sword special, you can basically spam it since the time you kill someone with it you are usually at 99%.
