Toughness on demand just not enough or something? That including Empath Evasion which is already incredibly insane for Psyker survivability especially when the class just dispenses crits casually.
To be fair, OP is likely not very experienced with Psyker. Psyker exists on both ends of the extremes, play Psyker right and your Warp God, play Psyker wrong and a stray poxwalker uppercut ends your run in a matter of seconds. Not much margin for error.
Psyker is already one of the strongest and most impactful classes in the game, so no.
The only thing that should be improved, is brinning down worthless nodes like 5% hp to only like 5, but talents can be leaved as they are, maybe smite reworked, to be burst ability especially since we have arbiter with smite on demand. I think generally talents strong and good, there’s some trash like unlucky for some, wildfire, but not a lot.
Possibly allow the bolt to chain? Even if it’s just on crit, giving crit psyker a reason to use a staff that isn’t named “purgatus”
No. Electrokinetic is supposed to be a single target staff. Making it chain more is not the answer. Making it deal more damage to single targets with consecutive Secondary Fire hits is the answer.
Fatshark should make a second Mark of Electrokinetic Force Staff with its original functionality.
Isn’t strong crowd control something that should be reserved for Trauma? Don’t get me wrong the lightning arcing across large groups was cool to see, but at a certain point Surge became too much like Smite with the amount of crowd control through near perpetual stagger it provided.
I meant chain to like… two to four targets, with priority to elites and specialists.
Not a whole horde.
That would be utterly stupid.
As I’ve previously mentioned, Smite needs to be reworked. Variety is the spice of life.
Skill issue as in you are positioning yourself badly.
Also, use primary attack from flamer staff to stagger everything except crushers/monstruosities while you reposition yourself to some place better suited to output damage.
If you really frak up, between kinetic deflection and evasion, you should be more than able to “slink” to a better position.
Nobody will ever says playing Psyker is easy but saying it needs buff it is, AT LEAST, as stupid as.
What are you saying…we have the single most broken talent ever for teamplay (PsyAura), cutting the abilities of everyone down DRAMATICALLY and you think this does not boost damage??
Helping the team spam their defensive abilities IS a damage increase cause you are allowing them to keep outputting damage/being offensive instead of resorting to “defensive” postures (i.e. retreat, dodge back, reposition, block, etc.).
A competent psyker is 95% topping the damage board, while offering bubble (which is the defensive option, god have mercy on the scoreboard if we would be allowed to come with Shriek…), a good one is fracking melting the map leaving teammates to worry only about distant specials/monstruosities.
Your perception is skewed by a huge margin.
Kek, as if A S S is a sign of skill
The Psyker’s class performance overall is in a weird place where certain talents just feel bad to use compared to their competition in other classes, but are objectively functional. I think the question we have to ask is if the Arbites and Ogryn are the new standard of class balance for Darktide, or if they intend to bring those classes more in line with where the Psyker, Veteran, and Zealot currently sit.
My guess, personally, would be that the Arbites and Ogryn are more like the goal of the design team considering they released pretty much back to back with a fairly coherent design theme and everything else has just been buffs. In this case the Psyker could probably use a bit more love particularly in smoothing out some of the issues it’s kit has. Brain Burst, while it has utility especially within the context of the sniper, is generally inferior to the dog in most situations, Smite is an unfun stun gun that can’t really be nerfed because all it does is tickle enemies but can’t really be buffed because it tickles so good, and Assail is the most middling ability I have ever seen in a horde shooter. No aura but the CDR one is worth it, and that’s partly because of the power of the CDR aura and partly just because the other two buffs really aren’t that impressive. As far as ultimates go, Scriers and Telekine are fine but Telekine literally only ever uses the dome and Scriers is inherently niche. Meanwhile Venting Shriek is only really used in builds with excessive perils or as part of fire builds, and even there it doesn’t really perform to spec with the other two, it’s just the only thing that even remotely fits the play pattern.
The internal balance of the psyker is obviously out of whack, and could use some help in places, but that’s true even more so for the Veteran and especially the Zealot IMO. The external balance of all three of those classes is out of tune with the Ogryn and the Arbitrator and one of the two sets is gonna have to move towards the other in power
