Im starting to not enjoy playing with Psykers. I cant even hit enemys. Obviusly noy all the builds. But wow…. I really feel they are overtuned now from what Ive seen.
Try different difficulties and different mission types. There are circumstances where Psykers just suck and you can shine.
Auric. Its constant. When they have good hands, it gets boring.
They just didn’t seem to do any balance or QA testing with psykers. There’s a lot of issues in play right now, and some of are essentially bugs massively bolstering performance. Off the top of my head, the currently active issues with psyker are:
- Smite is bugged and can be used infinitely for free with certain talent combinations (might actually need a buff though once the infinite smite is fixed). It’s unpleasant to play with them since they tank framerate something fierce.
- Cooldown reduction via warp charges is bugged for the warp shield and can get 100% cooldown reduction
- Assail is grossly over-performing and is currently more equivalent to having an extra primary weapon instead of being a niche tool to cover some bases like every other blitz in the game.
- Voidstrike and Surge staves may have been over-buffed.
- The layout of their talent tree makes it extremely easy to stack multiple toughness regen talents while other classes often need to make more sacrifices to stack sources of toughness regen.
Mostly agree with everything except the surg staff. It sucks. You never take a surg staff over void. Void is better in every way.
Assail does need a little work. Mostly I think if the shard timer was adjusted so you cannot run with out 3/4th of the time going to town it would be about right. It’s supposed to a tool for certain situations. Not an literal extra weapon.
Assail seem to regen too quickly for what it is. Voidstrike seems to melt elites and specials too quickly, and frankly invalidates something like surge. In general player damage output went up, not just on psyker. Some damage numbers I have seen are crazy.
It depends. In terms of performance drawn from talents, players seem to be stronger. However a lot of weapons were virtually nerfed since they didn’t receive buffs while enemies as a whole were made stronger. This has messed with a lot of damage breakpoints and ammo economy. It’s most noticeable on slow high damage weapons. Something like a plasma gun changing from killing an elite/special in one hit to two hits is a very significant change.
For assail, I think regeneration timer on each knife needs to be dramatically increased. Perhaps the individual performance of the knives might need to be upgraded in response to the change. The principle problem is uptime on the skill usage. Essentially every other blitz ability is a niche attack that helps cover your bases and isn’t something that you can lean on as your primary source of damage. The other ones all solve problems that your ranged/melee weapons may struggle with. But assail regenerates its knives so fast that you can definitely use it as a primary source of your damage. So I think that they need to either massively reduce the regeneration rate of those knives, or perhaps remove the knife capacity entirely and force the psyker to spend time in brain-burst style casting animation where they summon and throw every single knife individually. Again, individual knife performance may need to be upgraded in response to such changes.
All classes have their pros and cons the psychic is very strong in some scenarios but for example if you have a big wave coming at you it will be quite complicated, I thought the same about ogryn but as soon as I spawned several snipers away it became a burden.
If you think that assail takes your fun away, you are moving too slowly, or you play on a relatively low difficulty (where assail is actually pretty nuts).
This is what you get on damnation+ when there is an ogryn with shotgun:
Deleting absolutely everything, having no weakness and outperforming thunderhammer zealots in boss dmg.
Assail psykers do not hold a candle to that.
People need to stop complaining about a single ability and change their own loadouts to something better.
Zealot can 1 shot all kinds of things (trash, specials, some elites) with heavy swords.
Ogryn can outdamage everyone by using a shotgun against everything.
Barely any of the melee ogryn use the shovel, which is very strong now…
You are totally right, Assail and Voidstrike are totally balanced on higher difficulties. I mean just look at what I did:
Crazy balanced on Auric-STG!
I would assume that you pretty much always perform well.
So do i.
Which is why i posted a scoreboard of an ogryn absolutely smoking me, by simply spamming the shotgun at everything that moved.
I have no idea what level your teammates from that match usually perform on, so your scoreboard does not mean anyting to me.
I also would not agree that voidstrike is balanced, since it can 1 shot crushers and bulwarks through their shield, has no weakness and unlimited (?) range.
The vet was very good with Autogun, Zealots were mid compared to what I can pull off, but they were team players.
Jokes as you might be right. What I see from Psyker’s is around 400-450k.
I’m just not sure how this matches up with things like pre-patch bolter experience. I had exactly 3 games where I’ve seen people doing crazy with Bolter (2 with the same guy, 3rd was playing Zealot) and 5 matches with Autopistol going nuts.
Same here with Voidstrike, have at least 1 most of the time 2 psykers, half of them with Voidstrike assail and I’m not impressed by their performance, while I just picked it up and I managed to delete half the map with it.
Also, take note that at least 1/3 of elite/special kills were from Assail and more than half of my ranged chaff kills. It’s a very good combo.
Do you mean kickback? If so how the heck? I tried it with glugger tree and it seems way worse than ripper or stubber with a fraction of the ammo economy of either. Did they suck up every ammo crate on the map or something? And how did other people not beat them to kills with kickback’s relatively low effective range? I need to find this wizard and ask them what they’re doing
No it was one of the rippers.
Ok that makes a lot more sense then Though glugger ammo economy is still on the weak side frankly.
