I love the new hounds.
New hounds are too weak. The way the mod plays out is very nice tho. Like the idea of them spawning in pack. Now just needs to be balanced so that it actually matters. Currently them spawning occasionally is a non factor, like a group of poxwalkers.
Same thing happens to me sometimes I think its lag throwing timing off when Iām missing pushes normally other guys in that game are too. They are still a bit buggy too.
Imagine dogs with the vent purge though flying out of the fog and landing straight on your head.

I was thinking, have the modifiers apply one-at-a-time per section within a map. But simultaneous modifiers might be fun too, for people looking for a wild ride. (They could use a ā?ā icon for the former, and a ā
ā icon for the latter.)
While the dogs are an interesting game element, it kind of sucks if the whole team gets pinned down by them in the middle of a wave.
It feels like the game throws some dice and tells the players: nice try so far but I decided you lose now.
What about getting a chance to get out alone?
What I also like to see changed: give the players a break⦠having an intense fight for minutes (especially in the ammo raid mission where you have to wait for the mini games to continue), the last thing you want to have is another wave or a dog pack or both after opening the next door.
If that stays in, Iād like to have the ability to lock doors behind me, like in Deathwing.
Oh - and spawning a wave when the group uses an elevator and redirecting the wave to the new location is cheating by the game - as I said, give players a break ![]()
I guess my updated thoughts are that the mod just feels like it slows down a run and nothing else for 80% of the time.
The few times I actually got the modifier in a bad spot aka, boss, tons of shooters, horde and other elites/disablers, yeah in those situationās its an absolute chaos and madness and it definitely makes hearth beat a few extra times.
The other times I just felt like parties would sit in a convenient corner, mow down the the dogs and move on and repeat.
The positions where dog appear are just generally not impactful enough for typical runs. You really need them to appear at the minimum with horde or something.
So, tried out the updated Hunting Grounds and it brings up a continual problem with Fatsharkās development in response to player feedback.
When players comment āthis thing is broken or presents in a way that is not fun/annoyingā you tweak it in a way that ultimately changes nothing. Itās still not fun or it is still annoying. Three buggy hounds replaced by up to a dozen somewhat less buggy hounds is still not fun for the same reason.
If you had not noticed, the new dogs will almost always pass you by if you are not on the ground, but instead perched on a box or a barrel. And while up there, you can safely shoot them.
So, when you hear the howling, positioning becomes crucial and you have to rush to secure an area where all 4 can climb on a box. This adds tension, even before they arrive, as well as a seldom-used element of strategy: forming a kill-box⦠literally.
