The pox bomber already is bad enough, delete the pox gas mod from maelstrom and give me my melee only

I mean, it is a pretty silly one. It only makes the game harder because it ruins the flow.

its bad because of how uneven toughness restocks can be. play this mode with executioner stance veteran, and then try it with ogryn.

I’m under the impression that this mode is quite easy as there are plenty of health stimms…
That is as long as you do not need ammo, it might just be a … “feeling” but it feels as stimms consume ammo spawns …

on a serious note, gas is among the few “difficult” ones in a public team since it punishes wrong placement even more than usual.

and thems being pubs, well thats a given :man_shrugging:

its not even the amount of buffs the enemies get for they seem to drop just as easy, its that faint hope this modifier smashes some sense/awareness into people as a result.

faint being the important part for dudes jump into stuff totally unprepared anyways i doubt they even check whats on the menue right now.

but seeing a E or J something something through to the end gives another layer of satisfaction, maybe its just the other ones gotten “standard procedure” by now.

I like the one with monsterous specials. They just need to remove all the health stimms.

The trouble with gas is it just seems to spawn wherever you go and if there is a choke pount you have to hold out then it’s practically unavoidable to do anything other than stand in the gas and fight anyway.

It’s meant to force you to move out of the gas but in reality, due to the way the game flows, this is often not possible/plausible and you just have to fight blind and weakened.

At least with the globadier in VT2 there was a circular shape to the gas with a visible cues, pox gas just goes everywhere and you can’t see the extents of it to even know where to go to get out of it, I’m with OP it sux

judging from the last 2 successful ones they are far less abundant and given the latest team composition “needed” :laughing:

agreed though there should be a “purist” modifier with med stations being the only means if there’s no vet around that beefs up the medkit.

would give them some incentive to use that talent come J I II V or E somethinsomethin :rofl:

I do think Pox Gas needs improvement.
It is fine to stay but it needs some work.

The extra med stims make this mode easy in lower difficulties but in Auric Mael, it’s another story because you can’t always rush to the next point.

There are several areas where there is literally no room to breath unless you fall back really far to wait out the gas. Combined with unlimited mobs in Auric Mael, it makes the game progress so slowly. I personally don’t see the fun in it. Better have it spray in spots where we have to dodge rather than the whole area that you basically have to stop moving forward.

It needs work. I personally feel like the mod just makes runs tediously slow more than necessarily making runs that much harder.
Like sure if you got a team full of headless chicken just pushing forward regardless of the cost then you will wipe, but if you play it safe then you are easily looking at 40 min runs which just feel crap.

I do think @RTO suggestion is a good way to change it. Make it so its more localized instead of filling entire areas.

The duration seems a bit long, other than that its fine IMO, great area denial.

I like the idea of making us use parts of the map that we might traditionally avoid or breeze through, but yeah I was hoping the gas would be more localized to the spouts when it was first introduced.

To get the same effect of map denial without the gas they could just have growths in places they want you to path around. Or again, just narrow the focus of the gas instead of carpet bombing an entire area.

I’d place the pox gas modifier in the mid-tier personally, and I feel it’s a nice bit of spice every few missions.

I like it because it changes the pace of the game, and not because I’m standing around waiting for gas to dissipate, although that occasionally does happen. But I actually think that part of the effect is overstated, and the real change in pace is how the abundance of med stims means you can play way faster and way looser than normal.

You can just bring a loadout that has good toughness regen and literally ignore the gas, you gonna have 200 healstims anyhow.

The real difficulty of this modifier is stupid teammates who refuse to back off to a safe area and fight a Rager goon squad inside the cloud. Then they die and throw the mission.
