I’m sure opinions can and will change when we learn more, see him in action, and get to fight him. Just curious how people feel right off on seeing it.

Very neat idea were finally getting a new boss however am extremely wary because it might release too difficult for some people then were gonna end up with another plasma gunner situation or he might be a pushover seeing how there are so many stuff that can instantly delete armor in the game. Overall am excited but skeptical.

Interested to see what the Ogryn’s armor breakdown is, if he’s all Unyielding or has carapace/flak anywhere. Hard to make out in the trailer but it looks like he has some chest/shoulder armor. Being able to yeet arbites’ dog and see thru shroudfield are cool mechanics. That he’s a roaming boss is nice change away from the kind of cheesy boss triggers for the rest of the bosses.

Very neat concept and I’m all for seeing additional bosses, but I have a few potential concerns.

First are the armored poxhounds and what kind of armor type they’ll be using. Flak is a-okay but Carapace seems too excessive/durable for a fast disabler, even if they’re supposedly slower than the standard kind. That and with all the criticism of the Plasma and DS meta that’s out there, the very last thing we need is another annoying Carapace enemy that pushes people to those same metas we’re supposed to be moving away from.

Second is how the Packmaster hard counters Cyber-mastiffs. It’s one thing if players are punished for siccing their mastiffs on the Packmaster but what happens when our dogs auto-target the Packmaster while we’re shooting him? At that point it’s more of a punishment just for bringing the dog as opposed to using it incorrectly, and that doesn’t exactly scream good game design.

Time will tell and I’m definitely happy to be seeing more enemies, especially new monstrosities, I just hope that Pack master won’t just bottleneck players into a certain style of play.

It scares me.

Somewhere between have no opinion because I’ll have to see it in practice, and excited because new enemies are more than welcome.

Eh, fighting Monstrosities is generally uninteresting, in my opinion.

Some of that is due to the current bosses having boring mechanics, but I dunno, Darktide just isn’t a boss fighting game to me.

This boss would have been really fun to fight in a Remnant game (From The Ashes, Remnant 2 or Kronos).

Everyone just brings the overperformers to get rid of the bosses in three seconds since no one wants to hang around and swing at a big target.

Mixed hordes have always been entertaining for me, but bosses?

They’re entertaining to fight in Vermintide 2, but not so much in Darktide for me.

Blow them up with Krak’s I guess? :man_shrugging:

We need proper bosses. Like in vt2.

Heavily armored enemies are the main reason for this game’s weapon balance issues, and now dogs are going to have heavy armor too.

I’m down for it
fkin gimme
lemme at 'em
boss sounds like he’ll be extremely interactable with

Honestly dont care. It’ll take far FAR more content OR releasing the modifiers to get me back to playing the game.

Thanks for all the opinions. I was very surprised by all this; I think it’s a neat concept, but it is very clear that FS wanted to do something unexpected here, instead of an enemy that seems more obvious. Which is not a critique; surprises are welcome. And the Plasma Gunner is something very normal. I like to see a mix of expected and unexpected (hint FS, please give us some Daemonic enemies in the future; I mean we already kill daemons big enough to shut down FOUNDRIES).

I like the design, more of a toss from existing stuff (like tox bomber) instead of being made of stuff we’ve done to death (plasma gunner). Hopefully he doesn’t get massively nerfed like spawn/plasma gunner several months or even a week in, and provides a good mix up from the existing monstrosities. I’m not really sold on taking the Arbites’ dog away when most people are already convinced its a waste to run that (also they made a dev blog claiming that having the dog be available all round and not impacted by enemies was part of their main design ethos) and stealth, but we’ll see I guess. Stealth in particular is terrible besides jinking bosses and not playing the game with the other players, its horrendous as it is. Burgle and Plogryn are still really lame fights that feel underdeveloped, and would still be 2/4 possible monstrosity spawns. Please do something for Plogryn besides giving him another 12000 HP and maybe another attack for Burgle?

However I’d still want more gun enemies and elite melees (especially for dregs) from new enemies. There’s more of a variety issue in fighting 600 dreg gunners in one room all using voice lines from the same guy (even if Greary is the goat) than the monstrosities that appear. Also maps.

You know, I’m really surprised there’s no Rotfly boss. It could be cool as its own, and imagine if Burgles had a chance to spawn a Weakened Rotfly when it dies? Speaking of, why do they have that awkward [Weakened] tag instead of just being called “Lesser”? Since there are lesser and greater daemons. It worked in Boltgun.

100% true.

Except that rat boss with 2 weapons… I cant remember the name…

What a loser.

It will be good, provided the dogs make sound…

Skarrik Spinemanglr was a much better boss than Raskniktt and Bonerattler

I welcome any new content in this game. That said, I’m not blown away:

  • Reskin of existing enemies
  • After Radio Operator, yet another unit that causes more specials to spawn in a game where special spam is already an issue. And well, that’s the AI game director’s job.

When I first saw the Youtube video I read: “Ogryn Pack”, like an Ogryn weapon pack or something. So you can imagine my disappointment. It should have been called Ogryn Hound Master/Keeper or something. Pack usually implies a group of peers.

All in all, this seems like a bit low effort again.

I gotta admit, yeah, this is pretty low-effort. It seems just absurd that we haven’t seen any of the actual demonic enemies of WH yet. I do not buy this garbage that our guys could not handle them. The player in Chaosbane went through Greater Daemons solo and hordes of lesser demons like it was nothing. Boltgun was the same way, and that was a single space marine. We already kill daemons big and powerful enough to possess and disable entire industrial sectors!
