A new boss is good. More carapace, especially on disablers, isn’t. A “counter” to Shroud / Infiltrate is outright stupid, they never needed a counter in the first place, never were OP, always have been niche / fun things. If anything, the Golden Toughness is what needs a counter, so “teach” the new boss to somehow undermine it instead, at least it will make sense.
They gave us that. People complained. They nerfed it.

I initially assumed this was a new Ogryn class archetype, like a whole new tree for them to play a beast tamer class. Sort of like the Arbites dog but more complex.
As just a new enemy, eh guess we will see.
Yeah, they chose the wording of this real poor. They don’t call any enemy “Ogryn”. It’s Reaper, Bullwark, Crusher. And Plague Ogryn I guess.
But any reference to Ogryn normally means the class. I bet a lot of people thought this would be something for Ogryn from just reading the title.
i’m curious how long he disables the mastiff. possibly poke him with the cattle prod so he runs away howling? i guess that will just lead to dog being less useful and arbitrators choosing solo + shock mines more often.
It’s probably still useful against the dogs in his pack from a rescue perspective, just can’t remote detonate on top of the actual ogryn.
probably depends on how one commands the dog. for example , i press “use” once for pinging enemies (which i do often so they get highlighted) and twice for siccing the dog on them, it works great and i don’t get anything mixed up.
you’re right about needing even anti-carapace even more.
The irony is that they needed a nerf, because they could instantly obliterate players and were near impossible to see in the overly-dark areas of maps. And they do still shred golden armor, they’re just uncommon enough to not be a counter anymore. They only slightly changed their visibility with the slight red glow as they prepare to fire, but if they’d just made them actually visible all the time (my suggestion was a big glowing red metal chaos sign worn on their backs that goes up over their heads to give them an unmistakable silhouette) they could have remained threatening but been fair.
